Kindness and sympathy are signs of personal strength; hate is a sign of personal weakness.

I increasingly feel like the way forward for the democratic party is to take their OWN VOTERS seriously, and that's part of why there is so much tension and anger on our side of the fence - it is the exact opposite of what the consultants suggest, virtuous self-denial to court people who aren't us
Folks in DC really need to study history. In previous situations like this, officials literally have been dragged out and killed. I don‘t think we’re far from that now based on the protests today, Billionaires probably should be buying homes in the Cayman Islands sooner rather than later.

Most Americans are genuinely good people, regardless of their political affiliation.
So when the White House says horrible things to make you hate your neighbor, the White House IS THE PROBLEM.

Democracy dies in silence.

…when people are too afraid or don’t care enough to speak up.

Not today.

MILLIONS of Americans and allies of freedom and democracy, here and around the world, are taking to the streets.

Showing their love of country and defiance of tyranny.

It’s a beautiful sight.
Ah yes, going with the “let them eat cake“ approach. Yup, that *always* works.
Per CNN, the White House has just issued a two-word response to what may be the largest day of protest in US history—and those two words perfectly encapsulate why No Kings Day exists.

The response from would-be King Donald to outrage over his destruction of our traditions and norms is, "Who cares?"

The thing that upsets establishment pols and special interest groups and mega donors about Mamdani is that he has chosen to…and is going to…win without them, without bending the knee to them. Worse for them…and best for NY and Dems generally, is it’s one of the reasons he’s going to win.

Every empire falls to what it cannot comprehend: a people who refuse to obey. They think we are conquered, but they have only stirred the hive. What they hold isn’t victory, but the hum of awakening. Today make them hear the unmistakable sound of history turning against masters.

I everyone keeps their cool today, keeps safe and spreads some joy. We can be great and today could be the start of the road back.

The reason they're coming after this place is because they can't control the people on it and it drives them nuts.
Shocking a criminal president would do this for a criminal former member of Congress.
JUST IN: Trump has commuted the sentence of former Congressman George SANTOS.
This is a massive screw up (yes, I agree victims should be picked up) these folks can testify that they’re not drug smugglers and the attack was completely illegal.
This is potentially a massive story. Did DOJ plan for survivors? Do they have sufficient evidence to prosecute? What is US jurisdiction to prosecute? Where will they go next? When is their court date? Will they be indicted? Held at Gitmo? Returned to Venezuela? Be Epsteined?

Remember, the GOP belief at the core of their "we'll gerrymander ourselves into unending power" plan is that their political coalition is fixed and unchanging. There are few dumber assumptions to make in American politics in particular than "our voter cohort is static & will continue as it is"

Noem, Bondi, Patel, Hegseth, and Vance will all get 8-12 years at Leavenworth.
Remember Watergate?
Don’t let anyone tell you are a terrorist for peacefully demonstrating against the Trump Administration. Following your rights under the First Amendment, you are a patriot. Anyone telling you differently hates America. Be smart, be peaceful, but go make your voice heard. They are scared of you.

All this drivel about “paid protesters” and the No Kings March being some kind of “hate America” rally shows they’re scared… they are trying to delegitimize the opposition bc they know it’s growing
When America’s worst C-Suite keeps making similar, stupid decisions without remembering previous similar decisions that ended up going extremely poorly.🙄
CNN's plans for a full-fledged subscription news service are being closely watched across the media industry, since none of the major TV networks have achieved (or even really attempted) a NYT-type pivot yet. And now we know when it's launching... cnn.it/3IYf5lj

I wish more people knew that there’s virtually no way to prove media or text is AI-generated unless you created it yourself. “AI detectors” aren’t proof. Among other glaring issues, this makes it more difficult for journalists to report on media being AI-generated even when it seems obvious

If only we had precedent for what happens when the King dissolves parliament and embarks on a path of personal rule.
Having been a sportswriter at a couple points in my career— there are some folks who are pretty far to the right in that profession.

It really is bizarre to me that every single member of GOP House leadership & the admin has decided their coordinated talking point this week is that the No Kings demonstrations this Sat are essentially acts of domestic terrorism. Are they that afraid of free & peaceful assembly?

Trump just bombed six more people in the Caribbean, for a total of 27 civilians who have been killed so far by the US military. It’s illegal for the military to target civilians who do not pose an immediate threat. This is murder.
