You've asked, you've begged, (you haven't this is rhetorical), and here it is: An Andor/Dril Season 2 Thread! Since I put half the EU in the Season 1 thread (embedded below), I'm instead going to focus on our special boy, Syril Karn.

(Spoilers for Andor S2 follow)

Fig. 1 - Syril at the office.
Syril kindly informs a new hire at the Bureau of Standards "once you achieve the coveted post count of Seven Thousand...Thats when you gain access to the prestigious halls of MENSA. not one post less."

important note from libcrusher:
Reactivating temporarily to send a warning.
Since I got doxxed, it appears the same doxxing ring has targeted several other users. I learned that they were banned this week, only for Elon to, apparently, personally unban them. I feel obliged to warn everyone about my experience.

It wasn't just my personal information that got published. Someone, somewhere, got my passwords too. For my banking accounts, brokerage accounts, venmo, etc.
Most of which had different and unique passwords. All these attempts started the day i got doxxed, and have sporadically continued since. If you know anyone who's been doxxed by this group, you need to have them change all their passwords on every website immediately. Ensure 2FA and any other security measures are in place everywhere.
And, wherever possible, document and report it. Frankly, if you're a lefty of any note, do it now too

If anyone was also a victim of this or knows someone who was, there are ways to reach me. I wish I could go into more details right now. But until that time comes, protect yourself.

I will be deactivating in 20 minutes.
Hopefully, that's enough time for the warning to get out.

That's weird this article doesn't remove Mills from deaths door. Even if this turns out to have legs, Mills doesn't have great odds of surviving her term. She will be 79 when she starts

i'd be a bit annoyed if I heard that there was a Hamas SuperLair under a hospital which required bombing the hospital and then later I found out there was no SuperLair at all. Has one prominent person written a "shit, that wasn't nice, lying about the hospital SuperLair" piece?

Yeah. Like the CIA. We need to get rid of that shit with a quickness, PETE

if there's an overarching theme of the last decade, (with obvious antecedents in 2009, 2000, 1994, and earlier) it's that one political faction believes governance to be a tool of warfare against their domestic enemies, and the other is surprised they keep getting attacked seemingly out of nowhere.

Feels quaint, almost cliché, to say this about a Trump action, but just for the record:

This is all illegal, the President can't simply disregard the laws passed and agencies created by Congress, and both Vought & Trump would be impeached if the Constitution or the rule of law mattered to the GOP.

Hey Siri, can presidents “expand [their] administration’s authority” by writing a memo? I must have been absent that day in conlaw.

President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
Trump Signs Memo Expanding His Authority to Spend Federal Money
The president gave Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wide authority to repurpose funds to pay members of the military without approval from Congress, which has the sole constitutional authority to decide federal spending.

What do I know and I'm not saying it's a magic bullet or anything like that but it sure seems to me that Dems should run hard on the Argentina bailout. Not anywhere near the worst thing Trump has done, but i suspect it's unusually clarifying.

Jeffries: "It's perplexing to us that Rs refuse to spend a dime to protect the healthcare of the American people, but somehow the Trump admin found $40b to bail out a right-wing wannabe dictator in Argentina in ways that are also going to continue to hurt our soybean farmers in Iowa & the Midwest"

alternatively, trump's at 41% approval — that's pretty "sour" right?

In his interview w @jonfavs.bsky.social, @ezraklein.bsky.social asks, "why haven't the tariffs soured the public on Trump?"

An answer from my book on ACA opinions: the contemporary US economy is so diverse & complex that even sizable policy changes don't move opinions consistently.

The Obama administration will have no difficulty in closing Guantanamo. But how can the US atone for the use of torture on Donald Rumsfeld's watch? By ratifying the Torture Convention, for a start. And then by taking an initiative that would, for the first time, provide a meaningful safeguard for its prisoners of war, namely by waiving its right to confidentiality in Red Cross prison visitation reports.
