Kudos to Sally Kornbluth/MIT for rejecting the government’s attempt at corrupting higher ed. Others should quickly follow suit. Even the folks at Cato agree—this isn’t a tough call!
Nobody who really cares about books, writers, creators, small businesses, the planet etc etc.
i started adding -ai -site:amazon.com to the end of all my Google searches. It’s not perfect but it’s better.
@nytimes.com what’s with the “Dems shut down the govt” headline?? Seems to me the Rs control all three branches and somehow can’t keep it running. Why report their narrative rather than just report?
All this hand wringing about how to keep public figures safe. I have an idea. How bout we get rid of the guns? I mean I know that ship has sailed but no one is even talking about it. FML
Agreed although I’m here for the Agassi/Henman sparring #Wimbledon
Ugh. Where do we go from here then?

Concord MA yesterday - great atmosphere, a combination of celebration (beautiful weather, we’re here together), somber remembrance (of those who died for freedom), and defiance (need I explain)? Also wonderful to be in a completely pedestrianized community. If only it were more often & more common.
This article confused me. Was she not listening? “Arriving in a flurry of painted cardboard” feels like a kick in the teeth to protesters who are putting themselves out there. It was cold and rainy and crowded in Boston. The anger is real and we know exactly what we’re protesting.
#handoffboston - cold and a little rainy at the end but big crowds at city hall, all the way down Tremont St
Crowd at city hall Boston with sign “courage is contagious”
Considering my cat's behavior, pretty sure they really do talk to each other. It's a dark world out there, go find some fun to feed your soul.

Decided to go see the nasturtiums at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum of a lunchtime. Good timeline cleanse. If you're in Boston in the next week or so, go! (photo creds Jenny Pore)
How can it not be price gouging when people are saying eggs are $10/dozen. This was Trader Joe’s this morning.
can't love @mayorwu.boston.gov enough
If Republicans in Congress want to help make our country safe, I have some ideas for them.
Vermonters did not disappoint
Gene Hackman box set please (will need a fork lift). Too many good movies to remember them all - so many lists reminding me of another. The Firm comes to mind for me. Also the Birdcage and Mississippi Burning.
“Once upon a time visitors had to fawn over mad King George III and maintain the great pretence that everything was normal. Now it was the British prime minister’s turn to show deference to a capricious, erratic US president who might blow it all up.”
