1/ MSNBC is reporting that the US Atty for Maryland, Kelly Hayes -- who just indicted John Bolton at Trump's behest -- is herself "bracing for being fired" by Trump when she refuses to bring a bullshit, Lindsey Halligan-style indictment of Adam Schiff.

Hayes, a career prosecutor serving as Trump’s acting U.S. attorney in Maryland, has been facing intense pressure and questions for weeks from Ed Martin, a Trump ally tapped to run the newly formed weaponization task force at the department, about when she will bring criminal charges against Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.

She has chosen to move forward with a case she feels has merit and that will also be welcomed by the White House: to prosecute Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton on charges related to mishandling classified information. Hayes has told colleagues she believes some charges against Bolton are reasonable and warranted, a case involving mishandling of classified information that began under the Biden administration, according to MSNBC sources.

But Hayes’ office has been interviewing witnesses in a grand jury probe examining allegations that Schiff defrauded a bank related to financing for a second home in Maryland and is bracing for being fired herself when she explains that there are insufficient facts to bring such a case against the U.S. senator, the sources said.

I keep coming back to this article, from 2023, showing that far-right extremists use antisemitism and Islamophobia interchangeably to promote hatred of both Jews and Muslims. It's a game to them; whichever stochastic terrorist causes the most harm wins.

Even the ADL knows it's a terrible way to measure the threat, but it's an attention-getter. At an absolute minimum, anyone reporting counts is committing malpractice if they don't also report an awful lot of caveats.

So, what's my point? There's no sense in counting incidents -- your count is definitely going to be wrong, and counting isn't the best way to assess how serious of a problem antisemitism is anyway. The count is used because it's easy to count incidents that get reported, but that's lazy.

4) And that assumes no more than one incident per person who experiences antisemitism. The story that started this thread is about a self-declared Nazi assaulting a Jewish man.

There are Nazis in Montana. They're not quitting when they meet an imagined quota of committing one act of antisemitism.

3) Case in point: there's also evidence that over half of American Jews have experienced an incident in the past year. Let's say there are 1,400 Jews in Montana; that suggests at least 700 incidents, not "just" 21.
