“Anticharismatic” is an underused word

Thousands of posts from a private Young Republican Telegram chat reveal a culture of casual racism/antisemitism, rape jokes and celebration of Hitler/Nazism.

Some of the ringleaders are below: We live in a world where 4chan types now occupy positions of real power.

Granting that it's not the focus of the piece, I have to nudge politico a bit on this. There was a clear editorial decision to treat slurs against the disabled as clearly less troublesome than any others. Selective censoring reinforces the idea that some slurs are no big deal. Psst: they're all bad.

As it turned out, the Brewers' inability to keep the Dodgers off the board in the top of the ninth inning of Game 1 of the NLCS made all the difference in the game. Could different management of the situation they faced have netted a better result? #brewers #milwaukee #thisismycrew
Should Brewers Have Pitched to Shohei Ohtani in the 9th Inning of Game 1?

I might be missing something because I’m fully offa there but did a *Baseball Reference* brand ambassador come for Sarah?? That is, and thank goodness we have such a recent and relevant precedent, like Drake suing his own label behind the Kendrick beef.

and an active alumni organization can be. Anecdotally, the longevity and health outcomes for Black ballplayers feel much better than those for actors and musicians; don’t overlook the good work the MLBPA and MLBPAA do to ensure lifelong coverage and stay engaged with players to connect them to care.

Very sad news about D’Angelo. So many Black luminaries die far too young—rich enough to have access to great healthcare but still affected by some of the inequalities of our system. Chadwick Boseman. Andre Braugher. This is one good opportunity to consider how valuable a visible, powerful union

Run expectancy explanations of bunt and IBB decisions can be frustrating. They assume all players are average and all runs matter equally; we know that isn't true. So I eliminated those assumptions, honed in on specifics, and broke down Walking Shohei last night. brewerfanatic.com/news-rumors/...

When your job is kidnapping people and brutalizing civilians, you *should* be in danger. You *should* be at risk. And you *damn* sure should be identified for the public record. ICE agents are not at undue risk. If anything, they’re far too safe.
Tweet from Attorney General Pamela Bondi:
Today following outreach from the justice department, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target ICE agents in Chicago.
The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.

I just want to assuage everyone’s FOMO: this was just a concept car. I know literally every single one of us wishes it was real and had been out on the roads or even was out on the roads right now, but it never was.

Like I keep saying, the creators of this shit think people will use this to create their own original ideas, but the vast majority of people who will use it are the ones who think "I could put Marilyn Monroe in GoT", "I can fix The Last Jedi", or, more likely, something (derogatory) perverted.

I like that you separated “I can put Marilyn Monroe in GoT” from “something perverted”.

(I won't spoil it, but after going in wondering if the math would wash out, I found that there IS a clear answer here. The decision wasn't a coin flip, really.)

one response to this (correct) observation is to say “well, the cops will attack you no matter how you dress and behave.” that’s right. images of cops and ICE beating grandmas and kids in inflatable frog costumes is a win for the opposition.

one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.
