Earthy crunchy mom from Vermont. I do other things, too. A bit snarky, super pissed about the election.

An awful lot of comedy these days requires you to sit through a bunch of dreck to get a nugget of gold. I like my comedy fast and smart, so I imagine I won't like this. I didn't like Schitt's Creek for similar reasons.

By the way. If you are eligible to get the shingles vaccine, then get it. Soon.

Shingles is horrible.
I had flu and covid vaccines this afternoon. They were out of RSV vaccine, or I would have had that too!
For certain medications, that's been happening for a looooong time. Most are automatic injectors, like the epi-pen; but some are more standard syringes, for things like insulin to treat type-1 diabetes.
???

Do I even want to know? I feel like I probably don't want to know.

Good news from Netherlands. By no means a great victory -- a small one, incomplete -- but a step in the right direction at a time when the wrong direction exerts so much gravity. Gift link. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/29/w...

This is next level authoritarianism.👇

"Following the suspension of two career prosecutors, the U.S. Department of Justice quietly revised a sentencing memo in a high-profile case — removing all references to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and President Donald Trump’s social media post."

The people screaming “protect children”, are the same who are outraged that children get free breakfast at school, or the idea of free lunches for all.

At children learning about consent and vital bodily functions.

At everything that actually protects children.

“In a worst-case scenario, she said, ‘the president could declare a state of emergency and say that elections are rigged and use allegations of voter fraud to seize the ballots of secure voting centers.’”

This is relevant again today. The directive just went out. Keep in mind, it’s illegal for the president to use the military as police without invoking the insurrection act.
That’s interesting. Last time I heard the phrase “Quick Reaction Force” was during the January 6 investigations when the Oath Keepers stashed an arsenal at a Virginia hotel. Gift link: wapo.st/46UGmic

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston is advocating for Flock surveillance cameras, sometimes using false or misleading claims. His claim that Flock cameras solved a missing woman's murder is not true. Her mother tells our @spencersoicher.bsky.social she is "shocked and appalled" by the Mayor's claim.
So handing the country directly over to the fascists, is better?
Nope. Outreach dollars and GOTV dollars are spent on the ensuring that people who show up at the polls show up this time, too.

You NOT showing up matters only in the sense that you're likely to help your preferred candidate lose. The candidate doesn't know you exist.
As a county party chair, I can confirm.

I cannot believe there are still people in my mentions arguing that boycotting an election because the candidates aren’t addressing your issue is a way to get them to pay attention.

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.

Pennsylvania has an important Supreme Court race coming up on Tuesday, November 4. If you live in the Keystone State, or know someone who does, vote YES to retain three justices who will protect your fundamental rights and freedoms.

Remember: The richest 1% evade over $160 billion in taxes every year.

That amount would fund SNAP for a year with money to spare.

Ask yourself who the real freeloaders are.
