just in: Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner is on track to win easily.

With roughly a quarter of the vote reporting, he leads Pat Dugan 81% to 19%.

Krasner already beat Dugan in the Dem primary... and Dugan kept running as the GOP nominee. (My write-up: boltsmag.org/2025-prosecu...)

Normally, it's a problem if you say something to a federal court then the next day go online and admit you lied, but we're only talking about the President, the DOJ, and the US Attorneys lying about his plan to illegally withhold funds to starve people, so there likely won't be any consequences.
Trump says the SNAP money that he’s been ordered by a court to release won’t be released until the government shutdown ends.

I don’t practice in fed ct these days but to the best of my recollection article iii judges don’t like it when they tell you to do something and you reply “lol nope”
JUST IN: Unusual filing in Tish James case. DOJ says it isn't complying with judge's order to turn over discovery on selective prosecution issue. Usual procedure would be move to reconsider the order but prosecutors file 'notice' telling judge no. Doc: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Jury seemed young and diverse. Attentive. Very cool to see Mr. Dunn, sandwich thrower guy himself, in the flesh!
So I caught about 45 min of the trial, the tail end of the government's case. Cross examination of the arresting officer. Defense counsel seemed to be highlighting the relatively limited federal role in Mr. Dunn's arrest and processing + how Mr. Dunn was compliant throughout that process.
I was presenting about "Toxics Regulation Amid Political Realignment" at the American Public Health Association conference earlier. It was a great time. And a short-ish walk away from the courthouse!
I can report that DC is quiet and peaceful and beautiful. I was happy not to see any military when I arrived at Union Station.
I'm doing it! The helpful security guard said the trial is on break and will be back at 2pm.

100%. Likewise there's still a significant under accounting for the role that feminist reaction has played in reshaping the political terrain in the Trump era.

It may not be the central factor of their politics but AOC, Tlaib, Omar for example all were propelled by feminist backlash against Trump.
Something to take into account. Abigail Spanberger got her start in politics via Moms Demand. We talk a lot about the Trump effect and Dobbs radicalizing suburban women with degrees. But I think we miss just how school shootings served as a sparkplug for the suburban shift for educated women.
I'm in DC for the APHA conference tomorrow, maybe I'll check it out...

Never take seriously those who ridicule low income people for having a smartphone or laptop.

“If they’re so poor how did they buy an iPhone???”

Because they’re trying to escape poverty, not the 1700s, genius. If you think basic tech access is luxury, survive a month without it.

Wow. "Months after law firms made deals with President Trump to ward off punitive executive orders, the ethics committee of the District of Columbia Bar is warning that such arrangements may require firms to drop or obtain waivers from all clients who have interests at odds with the government."
