Looking at this a bit more closely, this guy won PRECISELY BECAUSE he raised the "salience" of immigration via attacking ICE raids, and this won by a sizable margin in one of the most important swing counties of all, Bucks County in Pennsylvania.

As @tusk81.bsky.social wrote, "During the past several weeks alone, we’ve seen mass deportation agents operate with an accelerated ruthlessness and impunity"

And that was before ICE showed up at a daycare w/o a warrant.

When Trump said they "haven’t gone far enough," this is exactly what he meant.

FACT SHEET: Trump’s mass deportation machine operates with haste, deception, and violence

Don't forget that just this past week, Trump said these raids are not going far enough.

“Have some of these raids gone too far?” O’Donnell asked.

“No, I think they haven’t gone far enough," Trump.

Never forget this quote from Trump just last week on CBS:

“Have some of these raids gone too far?” O’Donnell asked.

“No, I think they haven’t gone far enough," Trump said.

The GOP vile anti-trans campaign failed miserably. Earle-Sears made it her dominant issue - and lost hugely

Should be duly noted by the punditry (but don't count on that)
Abigail Spanberger (D) wins the Virginia governor's race, NBC News projects, defeating Winsome Earle-Sears (R).

This past weekend, communities gathered for Day of the Dead vigils to remember the growing number of immigrants who’ve lost their lives in federal custody. Families, clergy, and neighbors came together to say their names, light candles, and honor their memories.

Even Trump’s administration now concedes the truth: America’s farms run on immigrant labor.

In an unusual federal filing, his DOL acknowledged that w/o undocumented workers, the U.S. faces a “current and imminent labor shortage” that risks food shortages and higher prices.

Farmers “will imminently face severe challenges accessing a sufficient and legal supply of labor to sustain current food production levels,” the department quietly conceded.

A government of trolls, by trolls, and for trolls.
Yesterday brought news that country star Zach Bryan is dropping a song critical of ICE.

Today, the official DHS account trolls him by using one of his songs (without permission, one strongly presumes) over the kind of cinematic footage Trump loves, of masked federal agents clashing with Americans.

Barbara Gomes Marques is documentary filmmaker who risks imminent deportation to Brazil. Loud voices in the film community could be especially helpful right now.
Horrifying— Barbara Gomes Marques went with her US citizen husband and lawyer on 9/16 to a green card appointment at USCIS office in downtown LA where she was tricked into walking down a hallway away from them, was snatched by ICE and never came back. She now faces imminent deportation in Louisiana.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, many Latino families live in fear of ICE raids.

Celebrations are canceled, concerts postponed, and everyday life — school, doctor's appointments, even going to the park—becomes a risk.
“HEPATITAS”
Highly normal. Nothing to see here, folks.
This also shows why it’s so important that this behavior is captured on video. Think about what might happen without cameras in their faces if they’re this brazen with cameras on them.
In a genuine WOW moment, this administration publicly acknowledges (perhaps for the first time) that an ICE officer violated procedure and will be taken off duty and subject to an investigation. This is a step in the right direction — I just wish it wasn't only because of such an awful viral video.

We must condemn Charlie Kirk's murder, that goes without question. But we can't dismiss that much of the hatred coming from the right is targeted at migrants and sadly has a death toll. We also must not dismiss the political violence happening in American communities everyday.
