On MLK Day 2021, his family posted this picture of him. Seeing him in color reminded me that our history is not that far behind us. Seeing him at home with his kids broke me.

Art friends: Here's a tip for getting rid of *a lot* of the AI slop in your Pinterest feed.

⭐Go into your account settings.
⭐Click the "Refine your recommendations" tab.
⭐Click the GenAI Interests subtab.
⭐TURN OFF EVERYTHING.

So far, my feed is *significantly* cleaner.

When I and others say "Young Republicans have always been like this," we mean "there has always been a contingent of Young Republicans who acted this way." When you say "We were very much not like this" you mean "I did not experience people like this."

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.

That’s why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed — because Young Republicans weren’t radical enough.

I don’t know if it’s about being born perfect, but at what point of their history were conservatives of all ages about racial and gender inclusion and respect for marginalized people? Their entire history is being against rights for non-white people and women. Where was the confusion?

So congrats! You were born knowing conservatives are inherently racist. Eat your cookie rewards.

When I was in college in the 90s, I didn't hear much in the way of "niggers" from young Republicans. I nonetheless knew that they didn't want me around...both personally and politically.

My continued existence requires me to identify when supposedly genteel people hate me.
