This isn't the only hotel I've experienced this in, either. It's a tremendously bad design flaw that makes getting ready for work or going out for an event pretty difficult. I guess I have to risk broken glass & bring my own lighted makeup mirror or ring light next time. 4/4
Putting on eye makeup & blush was a complete mess. I get that they're likely trying to reduce costs by using cheap, minimal lighting, but it almost seems passive-aggressive at how badly thought out this is. It would be difficult to use this hotel to get ready for work, it's that bad. 3/
... any color of makeup or clothing you're attempting to wear or apply. There's a full length mirror in the "living room", but the only lighting are very dim lamps that backlight you when you use the mirror & bedside lamps in the "bedroom" area. I have to use my phone to apply lipstick correctly. 2/
I'm really confused why modern hotels seem to go out of their way to make it impossible to put on makeup? Our hotel room has a dim light in the shower, and one of those ghastly, blue-white lights that go around the mirror. The lighting makes everyone look like a corpse, while washing out 1/

We've normalized the fact that a US President is using economic policy to punish entire nations over free speech.

And the tools being used were never meant to rest in the hands of one person alone.
Interesting that media personalities can advocate for murdering homeless people, but keeping Trump accountable warrants free speech violations by his administration's #fcc. #abc and #disney are cowards. I don't even like #kimmel, and I'm fine with canceling my subscriptions with The Mouse.

If MAGA is making the argument Kimmel deserves to be fired for saying something incorrect and thus violating FCC guidelines, well then, so be it.

You also have to cancel Watters, Gutfeld, and Ingraham, who all said without evidence that Kirk's killer was the far left and incited a lot of hate.

MAGA: “Political violence has no place in our society”

Also MAGA: unlimited death threats and jokes about Paul Pelosi’s attempted murder.

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee all voted to require the release of the Epstein files.

Republicans are voting to prevent their release.

SHAME on the Republicans for covering up the Epstein files. Know their names. judiciary.house.gov/about/member...

Question: What do political purges at law enforcement agencies look like in practice?

Answer:
this is really fuckin wild
Treatment for erectile disfunction is also gender affirming care for most dudes, but they don't want to discuss that.

The law is very clear: No one, not even the president, can use the U.S. military for community policing

Erwin Chemerinsky on why a federal judge was right to declare Trump’s military deployment to Los Angeles illegal
The military cannot be used for policing
A federal judge got it exactly right when he declared Trump's military deployment to Los Angeles was illegal.

I recently visited an ICE detention center with @ravenreveals.bsky.social just outside of Chicago. Kidnapping people off the streets isn’t keeping us any more safe.

Let’s close this facility and all the other ones like it down.
It's funny, I was just wishing the other day that I had a CB in my car on a roadtrip like my parents had when I was a kid.
I'm a pretty logical person, so I'm willing to allow it was a hypnopompic hallucination, as I've had those before. But I've also had an experience of dreaming of being dragged down to the bottom of the bed & when I "woke up," I was dangling off the end of the bed. Kind of hard to do that on ur own.
I was looking through my old posts on FB for a genealogy post & instead found one I'd forgotten existed, abt something shaking my ankle violently one morning to wake me up.

There was no one there or awake to do the shaking. I appreciated it at the time because I was sleeping thru my alarm for work
Six Flags: We don't know why attendance is down?

*Customers, pointing at SF nickle & diming once included experiences, rides closing down due to maintenance, CS issues, parks being homogenized instead of keeping the local flavor*

Six Flags: So mysterious. So strange. I guess we'll never know!
SORRY, Cedar Fair / Six Flags is a joke. And it's bizarre that they pull this nonsense in a city with top rated haunted house attractions, too. Haunt used to be a fabulous full day of spooky fun, and we used to go multiple times in the season, bringing family each time. It's really disappointing.
I still planned on going to Haunt this year, because honestly, it's my favorite part of WoF. But now they're charging an additional $10-25 for the haunted houses? Srsly? Guess I won't be going to Haunt at Worlds of Fun after all. Cedar Fair is a joke.
I didn't buy the season pass this year because of the lowered quality of experience at Oceans of Fun & broken rides last year, plus, the division of day attendance & night attendance for @worldsoffun.bsky.social Haunt screwing up taking my family for a full day of spooky fun....
To add to this list, Salem is a Halloween town all October long. I'd love to see real Halloween festivals in the lower Midwest.
I genuinely wish Independence, KS' Neewollah's festival was a true Halloween festival like Irving, ILor Anoka, MN. It started out as one, but it's been tamed down to kind of a general community festival. I still enjoyed it when I attended, but there's so much potential (and money) left on the table.

America: Universal healthcare creates wait times for healthcare.

Also America: waits six months for a neurosurgeon consult and a year to get into a dermatologist…
Honestly, both designs are awful. The old one was too complex and didn't fit well on signage that wasn't huge to accommodate "grandpa/barrel" - the new one is too simple, but at least it's easy to display. Y'all cry too much about the stupidest things. Go eat some potatoes, you'll feel better.
