Beyond that the US has used classic divide and conquer, & massaged the Sunni vs Shia rift. I was not personally raised with any awareness of that rift until I was older and had social media where I could see comments and had to figure out wtf that was myself. Obviously Israel also plays a huge role

Iran was the former golden child of US - look into the hostage crisis & there was basically a CIA head of operation in Iran that they trusted so much they minted money for agents there. The revolution changed that and since it’s become the girl they can’t have. the gulf states benefit from the rift

Honestly I don’t purport to understand as an Iranian born and raised in the states. My understanding is at the very least all of these gulf Arab states benefit from Iranian oil not being on the market, it would lower costs globally by driving up supply and competition.
