"The administration’s decision to remove almost all personnel for the special education office is not just a betrayal of students with disabilities. It also is the final nail in the coffin for Republican support of the idea that people with disabilities can and should access public education."
My latest for @msnbc.com: The Trump administration's gutting the special education personnel not only betrays people with disabilities; it rolls back the work of four Republican presidents who passed bills for special education (Nixon, Ford, and the Bushes)

Opinion | Trump's mass firings strike a hammer blow against Americans with disabilities
The GOP once supported special education programs. Recent dismissals at the Education Department put an end to that support.

Trump has cancelled $18B of spending in blue states. He fired more than 4,000 federal employees the same day he sent $20B to Argentina. He is propping up the government of the guy on the left, while firing government officials working for the guy on the right. But those employees also work for us!

"We emailed several Media School administrators Monday, asking them for more clarity behind the order and requesting they rescind their directive.

Instead of a clear response, they fired a faculty member."

The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.
Education Department wipes out special ed office in shutdown layoffs, union says
The Education Department laid off nearly everyone at the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services.

it's difficult to keep up with how evil this administration is. i worry this particular evil is one that will be overlooked, so let me just say how irredeemably evil this is, and i'm at a loss for words about what to do to protect students who deserve infinitely better

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.
my dream essay is about folk horror films in the communist bloc near the end of the Cold War, and LOKIS is the fundamental text, more them VIY even. it's so good

animals in the communist sphere are weirdly prevalent! bears, boars, elk, i dont know it seems relevant

i think about NOVEMBER so much
#folkhorrorfriday
i think longing is key to both, which isn't necessary queer but raises questions to be sure. both would be the best of all possible worlds, but ambivalence is a great place to start that doesn't exclude julia per se
this and NOVEMBER seem to treat class and folklore in very similar ways. nobles are atmospheric, but not absolute, in both

OK there has to be a queer reading to this, right? the way those lads eyes each other at the wedding?
