Before you follow me, I highly recommend you read everything that’s in my bio CAREFULLY.

That’s fair. Honestly, when I posted this I threw it out as a harmless thing then went to my job and found I had 40+ messages on my break. Lol

Honestly my take is probably ice cold. My dad just talks about Lovecraft a lot and I feel the urge to rebel.
mxdshipwreck.bsky.social
My Lovecraft hot take is that 99% of Lovecraft hot takes are ice cold, just the same lazy reductive potshots.

Despite what it may seem, this is not a swipe at @liammci.bsky.social but rather some of his reply fellows

I did one in Uni where I explored some of the film’s 70s/early techno utopian thinking going on with the early computer age and compared it with Ready Player One using Derrida’s/Mark Fisher’s Hauntolgy as a framework. Lol.

My hot horror take for today is that HP Lovecraft’s influence on cosmic horror, the genre as a whole and just other writers taking on the Cthulhu mythos is far more interesting than his actual work.

MASTER technician? Really? Or was he just aping off of Blackwood, Dunsany and Poe? 🤷‍♂️

it is ALWAYS worth pointing out who gets to be just a helpless little innocent precious baby boy at the age of 34, vs. who is framed by the cops as a big scary dangerous man whose candy bar might be a gun when he's barely in middle school, or described as a "13-year-old woman" by her predator

My ideal casting would be sadly Phil Hartman.

On top of that, I love how even the idea of Jim Carrey as George Jetson feels like it’s 30 years out of date.

At some point we're gonna have to have media that isn't just a rehash of what Boomers had when they were kids
A photo of Jim Carrey overlaid with a Variety headline that says he's in talks to star in 'The Jetsons' live-action movie.

To be fair, I haven’t read a full one. So I’ll take your word on it.

When does a cicada have a fuzzy butt? When it's a zombie!

A parasitic fungus replaces cicadas' rears with a spore plug and doses them with a type of amphetamine that turns them into sex-seeking puppets. And there are lots more invertebrate zombies! I spoke to @vox.com about some of my favorites 🧪
What humans might learn from nature’s real-life zombies
Some parasites can bend bugs to their will. Scientists are trying to figure out how.

I love how Ontario politicians talk about their own jurisdictions and constituents like they’re Gotham City and not you know, the literal definition of the suburbs in the case of Vaughn.

Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca who eliminated speed cameras recently, now wants CCTV cameras that will be equipped with automated license plate recognition as "residents are fed up with “scumbag” criminals."

Residents also fed up with drivers killing people. 'Scumbags' speeding, braking the law.
