Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or
weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who
sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless
the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the
joyous; and all for your love's sake.

The boring and obvious take that anti-woke positions have the effect (and in many cases the intent) of making it acceptable in polite circles to be a degenerate racist was and remains correct.

What's your totally ordinary opinion about books that you nonetheless find compelled to share when asked on a social media site such as this one for your most extreme/unhinged/hottest takes?

I'll go first: manga is popular among young people because manga often features young people.

Someone should start a nostalgia-bait account that's just pictures of the present day, college kids playing volley ball on the beach in Santa Cruz, leafy New England villages, cub scouts roasting marshmallows around a campfire. It's all still happening, you just aren't doing it.

the broad public does not like chaos and disorder and everything you can do to emphasize that it is the federal government that is responsible for chaos and disorder is a point in your favor. it’s classic nonviolent confrontation!

this has been quietly incredible.

there's a weird aversion in the US to talking about the nuts and bolts of systems, probably the same fear of unexpected taint that drives so much else of our risk aversion.

but wow! a child's naive idea of storing extra electricity in a big battery now works!
janrosenow.bsky.social
Grid scale batteries are changing our electricity system. Excellent new visual story on batteries in FT today shows just how far this technology has evolved.

Fasten your seatbelts, this is just the beginning.

No, you don't gotta hand it to him for possibly getting the third Biden cease fire eight months late after tolerating a mass starvation campaign and demanding a little ethnic cleansing and enormous bribes as a treat, and only because Netanyahu surprise bombed the chief bribe facilitator.

I, a child, had the movie tie in comic trilogy which had disquieting art and showed Breathless's origin where she arrived in the city and immediately had to shoot the pimp trying to force her to work for him.

I was 7 when my parents took me to see this in theaters and it's weird how targeted at kids it was. So much murder and horny weirdness! The original comics were brutal murderfests so it wasn't as if the source material was particularly kid friendly. Nevertheless I had the action figures!

It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap
HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "I'm willing to pay more for quality products if they are made in America, by Americans, who are paid a decent income." The tweet shows Norman Rockwell's "Freedom of Speech" painting, which is often used to show the tweeter is expressing a brave opinion. HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "MINIMUM WAGE JOBS WERE NOT MEANT TO BE A CAREER. Why does no one understand this? Entry level jobs are STEPPING STONES to better jobs. No one wants to work towards that though." HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "Buy $5 gloves instead of $50 ones. Trust me." The tweet shows a box of "Gorilla Grip" gloves. The label on Gorilla Grip gloves show they're made in China.
