it's a privilege to watch this team play, in person, every week. who knows what will happen in the playoffs, but this season is already 1) historic 2) a success.

Academics (esp. rhetoric/comm folks), I'm running a professionalization seminar on disciplinary service. I've noticed my grad students are eager volunteers inside our department, but clueless about the discipline (reviewing, chairing, committees). If you have any, I'd love to pass along your advice!
Flyer for my professionalization seminar on navigating disciplinary service "or how you can be a reviewer, too"

not to mention the moral blackmail (to which i'm a willing participant) of feeling obligated to rate every interaction a 10/10 or else the worker is potentially punished. there's no ethical communicative interaction under capitalism

ha, one of my "scaring the hoes" opinions is that sports replay reviews actually do open up glimmers of ontology, they're the closest most of us 'normies' get to Being (crucially not beyond, but because of mediation). which is why it's so bothersome, and alluring at the same time

baseball is the best preparation for death because it does not come with a clock that tells you when your suffering will end one way or the other

it's magnificent, probably my favorite Larson book. I think Tom Hanks is making a film version of it. there's a great fictional spy series based in Berlin in the same time period, the Zoo Station series, if you're interested

final go at Adorno’s sketch of a historical-philosophical materialist reinterpretation of Oedipus: “Perhaps the one who sleeps with his mother is doomed to be cursed by society because he takes for himself what belongs not to the individual but to the succession of generations…”
