📌Hello! My name is Kytri. I've been doing webcomics for longer than is sensible and my current one is called Crypts and Cantrips. It is a mostly character driven queer little fantasy adventure story.

I also do illustrations and prose, and am trying to learn game dev. Please see my bio for links.

I stopped setting precise heights and weights for characters years ago. At some point that stuff is just noise and in a comic you can just, like, look at the character if you want to know how they are shaped.

Also kinda wishing I'd done away with the relative lifespans of different fantasy races.

Trying to work on some lore pages for the Crypts and Cantrips website and remembering why I don't like doing character profiles. They're boring to write and it's so hard to boil down an entire guy into a list of stats and a paragraph.

I'm going to get complaints for leaving the stats mostly off.

Publishing is a broken system, and most individuals can't fix a whole-ass system, but a thread of ways you can support marginalized authors.

You should be concerned about the rate of authors leaving publishing. Especially from marginalized communities. This year I have seen so many authors just pack it up and go. And it's only getting worse.

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages

Business Insider headline reads: UPS is telling customers that their packages coming to the US are marked for destruction.

if you feel it's messing you up, step away. don't assume it's messing everyone up and you need to eradicate it because you caught a case of the feel-bads from something. go sit with that and think about why instead of pissing in everyone else's cheerios.

The homogenisation and consolidation of buisinesses and brands has led to the erosion of the midlist, the indie movie or band or comic. There's a real sense of "I'll only try media that's already popular / famous," and I'm begging you to look for the weird shit, the experimental, the niche.

It’s really hard to describe to people who are not artists how survival mode does *not* inspire creativity, as the myth would have us believe. It suppresses creativity as you try to limit every possible risk – and the opportunities that come with them.
