Heartbroken that, per his social media accounts, Drew Struzan has left us. His poster and album art was quite simply shorthand for imagination for countless young people.

E.T. Adventure poster, 1990. I still have one of these hanging in my childhood bedroom.

Star Wars Special edition triptych, 1997. I remember seeing all of these in the paper as each film was re-released and just felt a burst of energy those mornings.

Very tepid, I know. But we’ve had forty years of the current fantasy boom and nobody’s come off the bench yet. Moorcock and Vance at least threw a few warmup pitches, Harrison too. I reckon the real goal is to not like the genre all that much.

cosplayers in giant costumes constantly stopping in the aisles for pics, blocking congoers views/access to tables? not sure why pros being glad that's dialed back is "odd"

So the big story out of #nycc on some levels is moving the cosplayers down to a lower floor. They are very unhappy while pros love having a giant well lit space to cavort in. Oddly enough there is very little sympathy for cosplayers from professionals.
