Welp, now I've done it.

I officially informed my employer of my intent to retire in 366 days. It's just a coincidence that if I give them at least 365 days' notice, I'll get a bonus.

August 27, 2026 can't come fast enough.
What part of "Art of the Deal" do you not understand????
Wish the next question would have been, "So, you didn't watch Trump's interview last night? Why not?"

If Daddy Donny were to find out his best lackey in the House didn't watch, he'd be hella pissed.
So....were they plotting to attack the bars, or were they at the bars while planning attacks?

I love the English language so much...
Reminds me of the story that for a long time, during the Cold War, the code for arming Minuteman missiles was 00000000.
Harrison Ford, from APOCALYPSE NOW and AMERICAN GRAFFITI
I think everybody has a “Wallace Shawn from Young Sheldon” — my first one would probably be “Vincent Price, the guy who did the voice of Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective”
Favorite movies of several directors (not necessarily "best," just my favorites):

Scorsese: TAXI DRIVER
Spielberg: JAWS
Hitchcock: REAR WINDOW
Wilder: SUNSET BLVD.
Lee: DO THE RIGHT THING
Kurosawa: RASHOMON
Lumet: MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Fellini: 8 1/2
Kubrick: PATHS OF GLORY
Please tell me they accepted "PEED ON" (even though it's 2 words)...
"Have you heard the news today?"
"I heard the news today, oh boy....4,000 holes in Blackford, Lancashire..."
Good to see Edward G. Robinson getting his day in court.

"Mother of mercy, is this the end of Rico?"
1/ This week, SCOTUS will hear Trump’s tariffs case, arguably one of the most important all term. It’s important to understand that this is not a case about tariffs in general or whether they are good policy. It’s about whether Trump had the authority to impose them.
I'm assuming the delay in announcing this was due to ensuring nobody had died from raw milk consumption.

i hate that AI has now caused me to question the authenticity of cute animal videos online, which is my primary use of social media. i don't even know if this baby penguin actually wore a beret to go buy a tiny baguette in paris
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

- Emily Dickinson
If we're talking about a 3rd term, we're not talking about

- starving kids by withholding SNAP funds
- Gestapo on the streets of Chicago and Portland
- Higher grocery prices
- Failing farms
and most importantly:
- The Epstein Files

(This is true about East Wing, also too.)

In 2015, two Americans were injured in separate events where a man shot at an armadillo and the bullet ricocheted off its shell.
I just assumed that the "full book" of "What Republicans Know" would be a post-it note that reads, "Suck Up to Billionaire Donors."
Breaking character: This is a good thread. One my fixations is that Dems blow money on ads rather than building political infrastructure. My theory is they do this because the data tells them too just like the data told Robert McNamara to destroy Ford by cutting R&D to the bone.
Republicans have studied all of the Democratic ecosystem's ideas and strategies. They've directly copied every major left institution and then honed their own ideas in key ways:

1) Republicans use their money efficiently. They build institutions rather than rent them.
I still say that, as a trivia nerd, the biggest issue associated with the Felon's 2nd term as President is the loss of "Who was the only President to serve 2 non-consecutive terms?" as a valid trivia question.

Sorry, Grover.
And yes, I'm assuming that the guy in Canada that shares my name probably gave them the wrong email address (again. I get a bunch of his email, usually from places he probably doesn't want his wife to know about), I gotta wonder why he'd use his throwaway for a job application.
They then said I had to wait until after 1/27/26 to apply for English roles, but if I wanted a non-English role, I could reapply immediately.

Again, I never applied in the first place, but I guess they're saying I speak English too well?
Had 2 emails purporting to be from Amazon in my inbox this morning, hanking me for my interest in a job with Amazon, but saying they wouldn't be moving forward "due to [your] English comprehension levels assessed during the hiring process."

Only problem is *I NEVER APPLIED FOR A JOB WITH AMAZON."
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings. Look upon my works and put your right foot in, put your right foot out...
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings. Look upon my baby shoes, never worn and despair!
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings. Look on my works and no worries if not.
They had me right up until I saw the words "cottage cheese."

A cheesecake without cream cheese is like an apple pie made entirely of horse apples. You can *call* it that, but it doesn't really describe what you've got.
Nutella and bananas for me, please and thank you!
