Oh shoot, I hadn't even gotten to the part of this *same bill* that would ban cities from "reducing the number of motor vehicle lanes when installing new bicycle lanes." bsky.app/profile/camb...
Some bad bike news stuff in that too (on page 18)

In particular, they want leases to no longer necessarily remain in effect indefinitely, so that landlords have more options for creating tenant turnover.

Another reminder that a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

The first time Charlie Chaplin used his voice in a film, he wielded it to forcefully condemn the rising forces of fascism around the globe. Will we listen to his words today?

Trump's DOJ just dropped a major antitrust case against American Express Travel.

This comes after Amex hired lobbying firm Ballard Partners — the former employers of Pam Bondi — to lobby the DOJ on "antitrust issues."

Funny how that works.

Sprawl Is Still Not the Answer: "Instead of promoting sprawl, increasing housing density in existing urban areas through infill development and upzoning can help address the housing shortage while minimizing environmental impacts." www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
Sprawl Is Still Not the Answer
A chorus of critics insist that building on undeveloped land is the only way out of the US housing crisis. But the environmental costs of unrestrained growth are overwhelming.

The murder of Jonathan Joss was a multiply hateful hate crime that included the murder of his dogs and attempted murder of his partner. His neighbor made it clear over a campaign of hatred for years that it wasn’t okay to be queer and/or indigenous in that neighborhood

73% of mothers with kids under 18 are in the workforce. More than flowers or brunch, working moms need:

-Paid family leave
-Equal pay
-Universal childcare

(But get your mom flowers, too)
Can we start prosecuting all the white collar crime, tax evasion & close tax loopholes for ultra wealthy first.
Kids start learning about it in grd 5 now. I’m pretty some of my peers never took civics in high school and likely the same for anyone older

There’s still time to voice opposition to New York’s mask ban.

Criminalizing a medical device will be devastating to disabled and marginalized individuals (not to mention anyone who values their health & wants to avoid covid infection).

Mask bans don’t stop crime. They put lives in danger.
🚨 URGENT: Hochul announced a budget “agreement” that criminalizes masks, but IT’S NOT FINAL!
The budget has NOT passed, and we can still beat this. She’s hoping we’ll give up. We’re not going to. TAKE ACTION ⬇️
