Que más convencional que un 'final feliz', q ejemplo más glorioso de ello que el número final de Las Bodas de Figaro. Las colaboraciones entre Mozart y Da Ponte son una maravilla.

This graph never fails to be shocking: "The US has experienced the earliest and greatest slowdown in life expectancy improvements among higher-income countries, reported Eileen Crimmins. “We have horrible life expectancy—and it’s getting worse and worse”"

I'm being entirely serious when I say that this is one of the core commitments of reactionary politics: demand all the privileges, refuse any of the responsibility.

Fun trivia: the British right is much more right wing than the US supporters of Donald Trump.

I just checked system requirements and... I need a new computer it seems.

Lying so brazenly, and with not a single person pointing that, is a feature of fascism. They like that way.
Trump: "Portland, I mean -- every time I look at that place it's burning down. There are fires all over the place. When a store -- there are very few of them left -- but when a store owner rebuilds a store they build it out of plywood. They don't put up storefronts anymore. They just put wood up."

THANK YOU. THIS IS WHAT WE MEAN WHEN WE SAY EVERY BILLIONAIRE IS A POLICY FAILURE. IT'S THE INSTABILITY LARGE CONCENTRATIONS OF POWER CREATE. NOT THE LOST REVENUE.
“The problem with billionaires isn’t that they’re hoarding money that would otherwise pay for a Scandinavian social utopia. It’s that their money has become a source of wildly distorted political power that allows a few men with extremist views to wreak havoc on the rest of us.”

The fossil fool fallacy "it was arson, not climate" targets audience bereft of critical thinking, unable to distinguish between what *starts* a fire & what determines magnitude & destructiveness. Google nicely summarizes my past explanations (w/ links): www.google.com/search?q=Mic...

Bray is a historian at Rutgers who received death threats after landing on Turning Points USA's Professor Watchlist. As a result, he announced he was moving to Europe. And then this happened.

This kind of harassment and abuse of scholars is Charlie Kirk's legacy and it's only getting worse.
“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

Well, writing academic papers can be only a route to fame among academics (academics don't write for the general public). Being an 'impresario for academic papers' is a legitimate role -if Yglesias do that well is another matter.

Next they'll be rewriting textbooks to say Japanese American internment camps were delightful summer resorts.
I agree. But a lot of people falla for that trap.
A lot of times in order to understand people answers you need to remind yourself that a lot of people don't read or understand alternatives literally. It could not be unheard that a lot udnerstood the 'strong leader' part as decisive there.
We could read that as this :'Autocratic democracy' = very strong executive that is chosen in (free) elections. It is not something I could endorse, but it is not contradictory at all.
