Whenever we slept over at my grandparents' house, my cousins and I would make fun of my grandma for vacuuming the house at 6am.

Now, in my 50s, I understand that 1) menopausal women live on their own time. We live outside of time. 2) We have to get shit done and we don't care.

People who say "you can't possibly read everything you cite" are saying a lot about themselves, IMO.

It doesn't have to be a heavy lift. I spend about half an hour a day processing new-to-me papers by organizing them in my reference managers & adding topical tags so I can create bibliographies.

I'm just dreading not being at work. I see how messed up that is, but it is who I am. I love my work. (GRC, Architecture, Infosec) It's hard to know what to do otherwise. Open to suggestions.

Absent my untimely death in surgery tomorrow, I shall be convalescing for two weeks.

I'm torn between using this time to study or write in between sleeping or staring blankly at a wall instead. Of course this would be enough time to finish my 17th run through the last few Expanse books, too.

Last week, I drove the 535i up to its winter storage location, and on the way up there, I took the back roads. And along these roads I know that there are some good scenery. And that day, with the skies and the background, I took what I believe to be the best picture I've ever taken of the 535i.

I used to think people just didn’t understand what Columbus did but now I think some are really attached to him (as opposed to other worthy italians to celebrate) because their whole thing is not only getting away with doing horrible things but forcing everyone to praise them for being horrible

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

Now you might have noticed that "new-norwegian" Nynorsk assoc. with history. Go read about it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nynorsk it's not what you think. taken from wikip the image below showing many different versions of "I" and "not". These forms aren't like cases, they are speakers choice. 12/

Image showing new Norwegian formal Norwegian and dialect forms of the words I as in me and the word not. Eg = jeg = eg, æg, e, æ, ei, i, je, and jæ which are all I.

Ikkje = ikke = ikkje, inte, enten, itte, itj, ikkji which are all not. These aren't forms required by grammar, these are personal preferences. You get to just use whatever has a nice mouth feel for you.

So anyway, they try to preserve language here and I respect that, but a problem with doing that is it makes a portion of it inaccessible to outsiders. I suspect that's a tiny bit reflective of this society in general. I'm not sure of the solution, but for me I'm not investing more time in Nynorsk.11
