Have *you* paid one single bit of attention? He had a fig-leaf of authorization for tariffs (which he quickly overstepped, which is why those particular lawsuits are in motion). This us different not merely in aim, but in kind. "Invoking the Insurrection Act" is a specific set of actions. Look it up

His "declaring martial law" has about the same significance as that clip from "The Office" - "I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY!!" It's not a legal order - those follow a format and go through channels.

I don't "excuse" anything. Including hysterical overreaction. It was stupid and dangerous. It was *not* "shooting into the middle of a populated area". They weren't shelling the Convention Center during Comic-Con; they were shelling an artillery range, albeit over a major interstate freeway.

Good. Donald Trump should not be dictating what colleges teach.

And not a single university needs to cave to Trump's intimidation tactics. This is an important example for other institutions to follow.

You're not familiar with the common skull-and-bones, are you? That particular symbol emerged during the German Empire, and was proudly worn by the 3rd Waffen SS Panzer Division. It looks nothing like the Jolly Roger of the 1700s.

The Young Republicans of New York appears to have been mostly a dine and dash club for grifter racists. At least three incidents of stiffing hospitality bills: "a former Donald Trump campaign staffer alleged the group owed $7,000 to Redneck Riviera, a bar and live music venue in Nashville"

Giunta resigned just before Politico reported that his group had not paid off a bill of more than $14,000 for a holiday party in December 2023 at the National Women’s Republican Club in Manhattan.

The Young Republicans’ previously unreported debt in Syracuse followed on the heels of the Manhattan party and a trip by Giunta and club leaders to Nashville last year when he was campaigning for a position to lead the Young Republicans on a national level.

it requires Congress to approve. And under its terms, even if invoked, all the military can do is enforce existing laws. Donnie *thinks* it gives him carte blanche, because that's how it works for his buddies Orban and Putin, but if it really did, Nixon would have used it.

Okay, first of all, that initial claim is bullshit. The sole operation where a platoon leader took his platoon to accompany ICE was the one where the park in LA was mysteriously empty, aside from Mayor Bass showing up to chew people out.
