I used to live there. Loud noises coming from Pendleton were not surprising.
Have *you* paid one single bit of attention? He had a fig-leaf of authorization for tariffs (which he quickly overstepped, which is why those particular lawsuits are in motion). This us different not merely in aim, but in kind. "Invoking the Insurrection Act" is a specific set of actions. Look it up
His "declaring martial law" has about the same significance as that clip from "The Office" - "I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY!!" It's not a legal order - those follow a format and go through channels.
I don't "excuse" anything. Including hysterical overreaction. It was stupid and dangerous. It was *not* "shooting into the middle of a populated area". They weren't shelling the Convention Center during Comic-Con; they were shelling an artillery range, albeit over a major interstate freeway.
You're one of those "You're doing this wrong" types, huh?
A Black man running for *President of the United States* was "status quo"? Be serious.

do you remember the time Curtis Sliwa and his thugs beat up a guy in front of Penn Station on live TV claiming he was a criminal, when it turned out to just be a random, innocent person of color?

Trump has
-ordered that new federal structures be built in the “classical” style
-paved over the Rose Garden
-ordered that 2 DC Confederate statues be restored
-proposed a triumphal arch in Arlington
-demolished part of the WH to make room for his $200M ballroom

Trump Is Using ‘Classical Architecture’ as ‘A Dog Whistle for White Nationalists’
One of President Donald Trump’s final actions in his first administration was...

Ignore all laws about altering historic properties ✅
Pave over Rose Garden for tacky Mar-A-Lardo Patio ✅
Demolish East Wing after lying that "It won't interfere with the current building. It'll be near it but not touching it" ✅
Build gaudy $250M Ballroom as public struggles financially ✅

#Ugh🤢✅
So, making rent not jump randomly would... *prevent* people from renting them???

Good. Donald Trump should not be dictating what colleges teach.

And not a single university needs to cave to Trump's intimidation tactics. This is an important example for other institutions to follow.

There is power in standing up together against Trump's power grab.
White House hits roadblock in effort to get top colleges to agree to deal
Six of nine universities that were asked to sign an agreement in exchange for funding advantages have rejected the offer, two said they were open to more discussion

REAGAN: “When someone says let’s impose tariffs, it may look like they’re doing the patriotic thing… but over the long run trade barriers hurt every 🇺🇸 worker.”

🇨🇦 Ontario just ran this👇🏽powerful ad using Reagan’s voice against Trump’s trade war during game 7 of the ALCS ⚾️

This immediately tells me they had thew wrong reporters on the story (again). i.e. The Whitehouse stenographers, not their reporters who know anything about the parks service and historical buildings.
No mention at all of the fact that Trump doesn't have the legal authority to do this, that plans haven't even been reviewed (because the office is closed for the government shutdown), that the size and cost estimates keep changing, etc., etc.
Part of White House Is Reduced to Rubble. Trump’s Ballroom Will Rise in Its Place.

Suddenly reminded of the Ogden Edsel song "Kinko the Clown".

"We go to Kinko's clubhouse sometimes after school
We play in Kinko's crawlspace, there's never any rules
We have to sit on Kinko's lap, there's never any chairs
Kinko likes to tickle us and give us funny stares"

Okay, you're *proudly* ignorant and small-minded. Gotcha.
You're not familiar with the common skull-and-bones, are you? That particular symbol emerged during the German Empire, and was proudly worn by the 3rd Waffen SS Panzer Division. It looks nothing like the Jolly Roger of the 1700s.
I mean, it *could* have been intended as the version used by German Imperial troops before the fall of the Kaiserreich - but is that really any better?

Imagine waking up every morning and having to live with the fact that you are Mike Johnson…
Mike Johnson's latest messaging amid the govt shutdown: Dems are "terrified of their radical base" and "decrying this so-called forthcoming health care crisis."

The "so-called crisis" is when 24 million Americans will see the cost of their ACA health care premiums skyrocket on Nov. 1.

The Young Republicans of New York appears to have been mostly a dine and dash club for grifter racists. At least three incidents of stiffing hospitality bills: "a former Donald Trump campaign staffer alleged the group owed $7,000 to Redneck Riviera, a bar and live music venue in Nashville"

“So you’re going to release the files then?”

“Oh, heavens no.”
Mike Johnson: "Suddenly now, they've somehow convinced themselves that the Epstein files will be damaging to President Trump and Republicans in some way that they've imagined, and so they feign outrage."
it requires Congress to approve. And under its terms, even if invoked, all the military can do is enforce existing laws. Donnie *thinks* it gives him carte blanche, because that's how it works for his buddies Orban and Putin, but if it really did, Nixon would have used it.
Okay, first of all, that initial claim is bullshit. The sole operation where a platoon leader took his platoon to accompany ICE was the one where the park in LA was mysteriously empty, aside from Mayor Bass showing up to chew people out.

Second, the Insurrection Act can't be invoked by the pres;
