Hi #EpiSky! I work on theory, stat, & molecular methods of intergenerational, life course, & family health equity (repro/perinatal/peds)

I care about raising & supporting folks who do & care in non-Western/indigenous ways: community, lineage, environment (vs atomistic, ahistorical, self-centered).🙏🏽

When there is a random way to do something, there is a less random way that is better but requires more thought. In this case, regression models that make no sense don't belong in a multiverse analysis. An inferential regression without a causal justification is like an opinion without reasons.

No surprises here - removed or altered data sets include health data, and other data related to climate change, air pollution, etc., which enable threats to health and wellbeing and health inequities to be tracked and intervened upon.

Cornell is cancelling a distinguished professor's classes on Gaza and suspending him because of the complaints of a student who previously served in Israel's military surveillance agency and was literally recording the comments of other students in class and deliberately derailing discussion.
Not the point at all, but Pew doing their best to uphold the Asian perpetual foreigner stereotype with that footnote. Would it not be true of all respondents? Why not just give the % non-response?

Relatedly, the hidden missing / uneven length bars <100% and in one case >100% are aggravating 😭
What is wrong with that comment section!?

Alejandra is not overselling this. This executive order, if weaponized by a lawless administration like Trump, could lead to the dismantling of institutional/nonprofit opposition to Trump.

It can also be used for surveillance and disruption ops similar to the civil rights era and red scare.

I spent Tuesday night at a vigil for Datch in Hong Lim Park. Years ago, Singaporeans could gather outside Changi Prison for vigils for death row prisoners. These days, no matter how small the gathering outside the prison, people will be subject to police investigations and risk criminal prosecution.

I've said this before, but I feel pretty strongly that the building of concentration camps - and now, the inevitable disappearance of 1,800 people from those camps - is the biggest story in American public health right now that isn't being treated like one

“There are >3x as many people in the U.S. with sickle cell disease as cystic fibrosis- yet CF receives 10x more research funding, a disparity long fueled by race and visibility. This inequity doesn’t persist by accident; it reflects a collective comfort with certain kinds of suffering and dying.”

I don't consider myself to be naive to the history of state violence against minorities here (or in Singapore). And in fairness, I probably occupy a slightly lower socio-political class here in the US, despite having fewer "rights" as a foreigner overseas.

But still the apparent irony is wild.
I gotta be honest, having just spent 5 years living & working in Singapore and regularly criticizing gov actions online as a foreigner, I did not have in my bingo card that I would feel a more palpable threat from my own gov (and its informants) being back home in the US...
I mean look at the guy
