Friday saw the club debut of the newest coach, along with my two other narrow vestibule cars (and the milk reefer).

NJ Transit's latest heritage unit 4202 (Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines) at Hoboken Terminal for the Meet The Fleet event today
From yesterday, here's a shot of NYSW 142 in action.

(Full video coming soon!™)

Forget mounting antlers or eagles on top of a steam locomotive headlight.

Crabs are where it's at. 🦀

Very cool! If one of these were rolling by in a consist, it wouldn't even register as something out of the ordinary to me.

I'm amazed that there are three of these things preserved!
Burlington Northern “Bopper” freight car, another set of experimental cars that had both side doors and roof hatches. They could be used as both covered hoppers or boxcars, hence the name “Boppers” for these box/hopper cars. Prototype No. 800000 sits between sister cars 800004 and 800001 at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth, Minnesota, on June 10, 2016. Photo by Mike Danneman.
Wacky yet neat combination Boxcar and Covered Hopper!

More info on the two cars used by the Milwaukee Road and BC Rail in joint service in the attached image!
Scan from a book (probably a Morning Sun book?) giving some information on the Combination boxcar/wood chip hopper used by the Milwaukee Road and BC Rail.

Going to try to get in the habit of sharing one classic photo per week. Starting off with the strangest double-header I've ever seen- Union Pacific 4-6-2 #2866 and 4-12-2 #9011 pull an 81 car freight near Archer WY on VJ day, September 2 1945. digital.denverlibrary.org/nodes/view/1...
A black and white image of two steam locomotives pulling a freight train. The front locomotive is a small passenger loco, with tall drivers. The locomotive behind it is a much bigger freight loco, with a much larger boiler and tender. Behind them is a string of gondolas at the front of a long freight train stretching to the horizon. The photo was taken in in the foothills of Wyoming, on what seems to be a clear day.

Oh wow, this looks stunning.

Kudos to the people at MTA for this concept.

Can't wait to get out there!
