It was always clear this was the anti-woke goal, it’s just depressing how much they were allowed to cloud it in high minded free speech misdirection.

The thing about the Nazi chat is these people turned the country upside down and got a lot of people fired to be able to say those things in comfort.

When we write or draw porn or erotica, we get banned from having a bank account and our livelihoods get seized even if we give it away for free.

When billionaires steal what we've written or drawn to churn out a slop-approximate of porn, they're allowed to charge for it.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Revelations in the Spycops inquiry today that the spycops' top priority in the early 90s was the infiltration and monitoring of the Lawrence family after their son was murdered by racists.

The president is clearly insane, is on a white supremacist government purging spree, has masked men in the streets abducting people based on their race, is trying to start a war with Venezuela, and is tanking the economy, and none of that would be apparent just going by most corporate news outlets

Whether it's young Democrats expressing their support for DEI or young Republicans saying "I love Hitler,' both sides have expressed controversial opinions.

You might think Ryan is exaggerating but I used to go to a regular dinner that gradually got taken over by young Republican staffers and I promise you he is not.

The thing is, billionaires like Bezos aren't interested in owning newspapers because they want a big circulation to sell lots of ads. That's the 20th century model. They want to own newspapers because they bring proximity to political power via their outsize influence on discourse.

wow. bezos has destroyed this paper.

Lmao WaPo has fewer than 100K circulation now. It turns out “alienate your liberal subscriber base” is not a good strategy when the Republicans also hate you. www.forbes.com/sites/andyme...

Trump hates the picture “Times” chose for their front page. Let’s save it and spread it on different platforms like a wildfire.

It's never been more obvious how utterly subservient Britain is to the US. Even in the Bush/Blair days there was a pretence of independence. We didn't elect a Prime Minister, we elected a branch manager who reports to the real boss.

It's a race. What will happen first:

1. Global collapse of Capitalism (so we can solve this)

2. Total irreversible apocalyptic climate collapse

My guess is 1 happens only when 2 is already deep underway, or, hopefully when it is very very imminent and obvious but not too late, say tomorrow.

Unless global heating is reduced to 1.2C 'as fast as possible', warm water coral reefs will not remain 'at any meaningful scale', a report by 160 scientists from 23 countries warns

If I were to formulate a general theory of the Literacy Problem, it'd be this: people can learn to simulate comprehension without comprehending a text, and can learn to simulate communication without saying anything, and that behavior needs to be identified at a young age and stamped out

Guide to writing every article:

1. Pretend that AI works

2. Pick an arbitrary timeline for when that happens (don't try too hard with this one, "soon" or "inevitably" is good enough)

3. Convince yourself that this isn't just Sam Altman fanfiction

4. Rake in big bucks from every publication

particularly callous and inhumane detail here. these people never gave a fuck about Jews
"In September 2020 “Gordstein” was one of three complainants against Riva Joffe, an 80-year-old Jewish veteran of the anti-Apartheid struggle in South Africa.

Her sin was to have described Israel as an Apartheid state (a view shared by Amnesty, Human Rights Watch and the Israeli human rights organisation B’tselem) and to have urged Jeremy Corbyn to stand up to the “Zionist lobby.”

The Labour Party opened a formal investigation and Joffe spent the closing days of her life penning an immensely dignified response from her death bed. “This frenzy of purging you are driven to – it’s not the behaviour of mature adults. It smacks of desperation, fear and panic,” she wrote.

Joffe lived in Starmer’s constituency and knew him personally. But a direct request on behalf of her son that the charges against her be posthumously dropped did not even elicit a response."

Quite a bodying, here, for the UK, from the Commissioner for Human Rights, Council of Europe.

🏮 He points out the Supreme Court ignored human rights (which breaches its legal obligations)
🏮 He says, in effect agreeing with Lucy Powell, Parliament should be involved...
