The thing you always have to understand when faced with paens to "grindset culture" is that a 60+ hour week is very different in the C-suite compared to the production line. The former is largely made of up doing whatever you want, socialising ("networking") and chatting shit.

As a person who was verifiably right about everything before everybody else, it doesn't actually have any merit to be right before other people. I get that you're mad that you were right and everyone made fun of you for being right when they were wrong but you have to let the egotism slide.

Think it also helped sigificantly that it was done under an author/writer duo and while they DID apparently ask Usazaki if she wanted to continue it without him, she refused, so I guess they (correctly) assessed she was worth more to them in the long run and cut their losses

Will also say it probably helps that speaking personally, I've seen enough manga I really liked get mediocre or bad adaptations that after a certain point I just kinda learned to sweat over them too much unless the adaptation went over badly enough to negatively affect the rep of the manga it

(For the record I'm not completely immune to this either, but it does just feel like there'd be less handwringing over adaptations not being perfectly accurate if more folks were just willing to see anime adaptations as a complement to their favorite manga than a replacement)

Feels like we'd all be better off if animanga fans outside Japan respected manga as its own medium rather than needing anime adaptations to function as the "definitive" versions of their favorite stories. Especially since only a handful of adaptations are actually the overall superior product

(also kinda "helped" that those two were connected to Oda and his influence was a contributing factor in them retaining their public image, though much more so in Shi*abukuro's case from what I've heard)

Answer there seems pretty simple: Act Age was doing well for JUMP at the time, but not so much that they were willing to gloss over the charges the same way they would for more established authors like W*tsuki or Shi*abukuro so it was less of a loss to get rid of it

I don't even disagree that this is a low and unsustainable budget for pokemon going forward but using AAA/AAAA budgets as comparison is rlly "if you laugh you go to hell" for me because none of those games should have cost that much
