Just because the Ministry of Truth tells you something doesn't mean it's true. In fact, I would strongly doubt EVERYTHING said given their tenuous relationship with the truth in every previous instance

Just two weeks after letting our precious dog go, we are saying goodbye to 20-year-old Zora tomorrow. She has been the best cat. I don’t know what I’m going to do without her.
