Almost like part of the strategy behind pitching deep into a game involved using all of your stuff and changing speeds and treating it like a marathon and now all these dudes do is throw max velo with max spin for 5 innings and blow up

Pitch count should matter less than pitch type. I through 60 straight fastballs and that's way more damaging than 90 change-ups.

The pitchers all throw FEWER pitches and FEWER innings today and yet they hurt their arms MORE than they ever did before.

Wild! How does it work that way!?

Claiming dusty ruined him is ahistorical bunk btw. Total pseudoscience bullshit. There has never been a strong established link between pitch count and arm injury. And Prior had a really funky arm motion that put a bunch of stress on his elbow

Fucking real

I was looking at highlights of the Bartman inning (which today is the 22nd anniversary of) and caught this graphic. Mark Prior was at 110 pitches in the 8th and there wasn't even someone warming in the bullpen at the time. Just a totally unrecognizable era.

44.1 of 45 possible innings from starters. Never, ever forget what they took from you. Never forget how good we used to have it

Dave Roberts has been staring at White Sox pitching section of the 2005 ALCS B-Ref page and thinking... "YOU KNOW WHAT, MAYBE"
2005 White Sox pitching in the ALCS, when all 4 starters threw at least one complete game and only one reliever was used

The first complete game in the postseason since Justin Verlander in the ALCS EIGHT years ago

The long term track record on these guys isn’t exactly flattering (shout-out Robby Findley), but it *feels* right. It makes me reminisce on days where I lived and died with this team

Haji Wright just hanging around the national team for years, kinda doing stuff but not really, and now having a nuclear season in a World Cup year is strong 2000s USMNT energy that I deeply respect. It’s nostalgic

We need to turn the winds around on this before it’s too late

While we're here, Jake, thought you might enjoy Chuck's "get a job" comments this week

They’ve got 1 dude in the Prem amongst the roster they called up this go around. Would bet it was close to a full XI 10 years ago
jakenazar.bsky.social
Looked up their roster when on the phone with my dad about an hour ago. It’s….quite bleak

Through 4 games, I’ve liked a lot of the Caps play. Controlling the puck a lot better, strong defense, all 4 lines have had some jump. Hope they can grab another pt here

Total BS that Chychrun is getting a penalty when Douglass punched him in the face

He really put a "but I'm different" in his eulogy. What a mind.

Trump at the Charlie Kirk memorial event: "They fired sniper rifles at ICE agents, and me. But I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. Charlie couldn't believe it, actually."

I love teams that have a distinctive identity. They are who they are for better or worse, they embrace it. The Grizz/Pistons couldn’t be more opposite to the Nash suns, but those were all teams who played hard every night, and committed to who they were
jakenazar.bsky.social
Oh the Grit n Grind Grizzlies for sure

Nash Suns. Steph Warriors. I have a deep soft spot for Rip and Billups Pistons. An ironic appreciation for that Pacers team that just hated each other’s guts en route to 57 wins

Here's a fun NBA question: not including past teams of the franchise you're a fan of, what was your favorite team to watch of all time?

For me, my favorite non-Timberwolves team to watch were the Adelman Kings. No team has ever had a prettier half court offense

I don’t think that’s out of the question. Not super likely just cause they don’t have as many sharks in their waters as those two programs did. But I do kind of think they’re tipping towards “existential crisis” territory and one bad hire can plunge you right into that
