It's hard to keep up.

RIP to @igd.bsky.social. Thank you for being documentarians of activism and anti-fascist actions for a solid decade. May we learn from the stories you've shared, and may new creative life carry on that legacy. You guys were real ones.

About a year ago, we announced a hiatus on this project. Due to an outpouring of support, we pushed ourselves to continue, and over the last year, we’re proud of the interviews and roundups we’ve been...

I think we should ban editors and journalists from being able to use the word "worst".

Yes, this is because someone put Quest 64 on a Worst of All Time list.

I found an alternate version of this recruitment ad for Chunsoft that features more fun artwork. Taken from the July 24, 1987 issue of Famitsu.

Yeah, I think that's lost on a LOT of people under the age of, like, 30-ish. Doc Brown's time machine was a DeLorean because DeLoreans were stupid garbage. It was a lemon he probably got for $500. Using it was just another thing made him look insane. 80s audiences would have understood that.
satire that people misunderstood: they picked the delorean for back to the future as a joke because it was a failed vision of the future

Phantasy Star 3 has such an under appreciated soundtrack. The opening theme that’s used over and over as main motif gives me goosebumps and later melts my heart everytime.

Fun and play are often a part of social movements as the people trust the larger group to hold their values as the conflict with the state expands. The anti-WTO protests in Seattle in 1999 were full of folks dressed like loggerhead turtles and dolphins and stuff dancing to RATM. Very fun + serious.

We survived the genocide in Gaza, but our dreams and ambitions did not. Everything was destroyed, but we still dream. Support us here to rebuild everything we lost and protect ourselves from the effects of this genocide.

The support is very weak, as if I was forgotten
I survived gaza gencide, but I came out to find that everything I knew my home, my work, my city is gone.
Starting again feels impossible, but I’m trying.

If you can, please help me rebuild my life even the smallest support means the world to me.
repost = rebuild

Locking people up for being poor, sick, or in crisis doesn’t solve the problem and in fact makes it worse. When people are detained instead of supported, they often lose housing, jobs, and vital connections. That instability drives desperation, which fuels crime and social harm. (1/6)

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

I would note that this disdain points in one direction. These legacy media outlets have been quick to cover and hype tea party protests, anti-mask/anti-vax protests, and countless other examples of what they call “real Americans” engaging in protest.
For sure some of the legacy media outlets are downplaying the protests because they’re aligned with Trump, but I think an even bigger factor is how many elite journalists have a patrician disdain for the idea that politics can happen in the streets and not just the CNN green room.
