Jesus CHRIST

It's one thing to know theyre all Nazis and be unsurprised at Nazi shit but its still shocking to the conscience and should remain so no matter how often they do their little Nazi Klansman routines

Hakeem Jeffries posted pictures of two Rep. Members posing with “Young Republicans” who were part of a racist text thread (as reported by Politico).

In response, Mike Davis (well-connected in Trump World & on the Hill) called Jeffries a “house slave” for George Soros - proving Jeffries’ point.

We are so, so close to the precipice of them just bringing back the N word and blasting slurs from official government communications. It's obvious they're all thinking it, and what's going to stop them.

it's also unsustainable, they don't have the numbers to be everywhere at once. folks are just hiding and waiting for them to move on like a locust swarm.

that is essentially what they're accomplishing: they're just suppressing the economy and pissing everyone off in a localized area then moving on.

If you want something positive, I'd say that the current DHS strategy of using excessive force has been extremely counterproductive. Rather than actually detaining people, they're now spending significant time and resources dealing with hostile crowds wherever they go.

Trump’s new “war on terror against the radical left” seeks to ‘liberate’ us in the same vein that the US used force to ‘liberate’ Vietnam, Iraq, Gaza, etc. As survivors of each of those massacres can attest, this is not a “freedom” anyone wants.

controversial hot take: america should not do covert action in Venezuela

General strikes are a meme strategy and never going to happen, yet people still think they can poast one into existence.

i was reading Chalmers Johnson earlier today and one thing that struck out to me is that Americans basically have no idea of what "blowback" could mean, especially if they alienate everyone who is allied with them abroad
raptorama.bsky.social
It's ironic because this would probably result in Venezuela becoming more conducive to cartel operations.

This, by the way, has always been true, and is why it has always been wrongheaded to do the left-wing “I don’t like Trump but he’s less of a warmonger than Hillary” song and dance

essentially their idea is to create a desert and call it peace, primarily because they think where Bush went wrong was trying to build democracy instead of just breaking things

Vance and co. like to insist it’s not “regime change” because there’s no plan to shore up a successor government — the aim is to leave a vacuum that we periodically bomb into submission

Barring Amerimaidan, the only way we’re getting rid of Trump is by running out the clock. I’ll gladly waste every second I can.

Every second they spend dealing with an inflated frog is a second they’re not spending harassing a Latino person, so I’ll take that as a win

This is a headline and lede so fucking delusional that it isn't even propaganda, it's simply a fantasy story that shares coincidental names and places with reality.

“The new authority would allow the C.I.A. to carry out lethal operations in Venezuela…The agency would be able to take covert action against Mr. Maduro or his government either unilaterally or in conjunction with a larger military operation.”

Regime change is back.

ICE arrested comedian Robby Roadsteamer for singing a parody of Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” in a Jeffrey Epstein the Giraffe costume outside their facility.

He sings “If you hate brown people / and you are a Nazi” and ICE thugs grab him and drag him into detention. No violence—just speech.

The left and Democrats are the anti intellectual ones? What sort of fantasy world are you living in? Not wanting to endlessly "debate" sophomoric techbro nonsense about AI is not anti intellectual, get your head out of your ass.

I'm a bit of a dissent apologist for this reason

I understand the kinda nihilist dunks on them as meaningless, but i've seen too many dissents become majority opinions to think they don't have value--as doctrinal roadmaps, as mobilizing tools, as records of the truth when the majority lies, etc.

If going forward we ever fulfill the actual promise of our Constitution, the dissents from this era of #SCOTUS are going to be very important and influential.

With the assumptions in place, the main event: why are people distrustful of democracy?

Put simply: because they're told to distrust it. They're told it's betrayed them, that it's failing. That's why people are becoming disillusioned—& it's why some support parties who say so. But WHO'S SAYING IT?

This isn't to deny that democracy *is* in crisis. I'm highlighting that the crisis is in part manufactured by the populist right as a weapon of power. Per @polphilpod.bsky.social, there's agency here. So, no, democracy did not have it coming due to insufficient leftism; it's being killed by fascists

That means everyone in democratic societies is hit with messages from all sides that democracy shouldn't be trusted. Opinion elites fill the ambient cultural spaces with these ideas. Both right & left-coded messages push us toward dissatisfaction. It's what everyone thinks; it's common sense.

Oppression isn't an all-or-nothing binary either. It ramps up. So if we don't stand up against it now, it will meet or exceed the oppression of X group. Because unchecked cruelty is the goal of fascism.

People are also grappling to describe experiences that, to them, are unprecedented at this scale. "X group in history had it SOOOO much worse" is both unhelpful and asinine. You are not scoring points by snarking on terrified immigrants hiding in their fucking homes
