I'm Intolerant Pacifist.

I have been on a journey to make more art and build my skills as a cartoonist. My website has higher resolution versions and commentary of my finished art.

Love the jeans, and love the dynamics of the hair!

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Happy #fossilfriday, everyone! The next ##Sketchasaurs short looks at the bat-like Anurognathus, perfectly adapted to catch flying insects... in the right habitat.

Absolutely! The feature set is critical. I've been seeing all the issues you were pointing out in your essay across the Internet, especially your point on the lack of community building tools.

I would love to contribute to a more community focused platform and getting it off the ground!
I loved Reddit for a long time. Subreddits were a spectacular inclusion into meta of how sites were designed.

Moderation is such a big task, though. When your site is truly open, it is also open to bad behavior.

I think there are enough of us, with the right skills to build a better community.
With images and things getting much bigger, bandwidth charges going up, and the electricity costs associated with it... Not to mention the cybersecurity requirements to keep these sites safe from bad actors.

Back in those days, it was a smaller subset of the population that could do harm.
I have joined several discord servers, trying to make BlueSky work, and recently joined a forum.

I think a big part of the struggle has become just how much data flows through these data centers when you start to reach success on these sites.
This was a great read. I grew up during these sites heydays. I wasn't pursuing art at the time, so only really participated through consumption.

As someone who is working to improve as an artist, and seeking community around it. This resonated a lot with me.

🧵
SURPRISE IT'S DONE.

Honestly this ended up being a diss-track to everyone, everyone catches strays in this one. Cara, artfol, deviantart, artstation, Bluesky, facebook, youtube, patreon, gumroad, -

you get the picture, it's long, but it does end on a hopeful note.

this is my magnum opus rant
That's gorgeous! So glad I got the late backer on backerkit for this one.

I also assume that's why I haven't gotten an email asking for more info.

Happy #portfolioday for all who celebrate!

I'm a digital generalist who does 2D and 3D illustration and animation, usually on scientific topics. Often times, it turns out looking like dinosaurs, though. :)

"It's not what it looks like! Those are just references!"
I use it on Windows and Android. I tried to get into CSP, but didn't feel like it provided enough value to justify the subscription for Android.
It has a bit of a different design philosophy, but Krita works across multiple platforms.
Your pen control in this video blew me away! I saw it the most when you were doing the plants and leafs, those crispy corners...

And it's a fun piece! Great Work!
I've joined the board! Thanks for setting it up, @jametc.bsky.social!

It's been so long since I've used a proper forum. It will be fun to watch it morph and grow. For the short term, I have no plans to leave BSky. I'm just enjoying the search for community.
okay. I've tried this before but maybe it'll stick.

WG is a forum where you can discuss at length tv, movies, books, new releases, metatextual topics, post and discuss art, post tutorials etc, read up in threads, which will not just vanish but stick around for a bit. try it!

Wow! Those are so well preserved!
Fun story about this piece. It originally only had the woman in it. My partner was complaining (jokingly) that I'm drawing too many good looking women, and need to balancing things out a bit, so that's why the the hunk in the banana hammock is there with her!
My protest piece for #BlueSkyBlackout2025 and #bskycensorship.

Being quiet is what they want from you! Being LOUD is what they should get! Label your stuff, but say NO to censorship!

One of the artists I follow started a forum recently: bsky.app/profile/jame...

Yes, they are a thing! I use newsblur for them. My website spits out an updated feed when I upload too.

It's great for keeping track of artists or webcomics that post one a century.
He needs to be making more ammo... Or at least collecting materia!
