Here’s all I read in September plus some stats. I am so happy to have broken my 5-star drought! I’m going keep this horror kick going.📚🌿✨ #BookSky
I am holding up a stack of books, mostly library copies, against a bush that the sun is shining on. A screenshot from Storygraph showing 8 books read, 2225 pages read, and average rating of 3.25. There are multiple graphs showing genre type and pages read per day.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

“We may be witnessing the emergence of a population-level acquired immune deficiency — not sexually transmitted, but airborne.”

That line isn’t from a tweet. It’s from a peer-reviewed paper in AJPM Focus (2025).

I am sick over this. This man’s spirit was indefatigable. I have watched him report on the genocide for the past two years. He also had a lovely singing voice. 💔

The beloved Saleh Al-Jafarawi has been murdered. We are absolutely devastated. For 2 years he reported on the genocide of his people, just for him to be murdered during the ‘ceasefire’

I truly believe a big reason why Democrats are failing to appropriately respond to the moment is a pathological refusal to admit that there were aspects of the American status quo pre trump that were extremely fucked up and unjust

I had the exact same experience 😭

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

ICE out of Portland!
#abolishICE #resist #PDX
A digital drawing of a frog standing on a bright red background. The frog is holding a sign that says “ICE out of Portland”. The frog looks mad.

I’m currently reading Nina McConigley’s upcoming novel How to Commit a Postcolonial Murder, about an Indian family living in Wyoming in the 80s and the two sisters who want to kill their uncle. So clever & readable so far!

(Thanks @pantheonbooks.bsky.social for an early copy!) #BookSky
My white hand holding a paperback “uncorrected bound proof” copy of the book mentioned. The cover is an illustration of a large container of green antifreeze on a table, with an ornate red and gold wallpaper design behind it.

Whoever came up with the idea to make the fridge harder to open when you open it back to back, I hope you are having a horrible day.

Nothing beats a cemetery walk in October. 🪦🍂
Yellow-orange leaved branches hang in front of a row of short headstones and a large stone structure with columns. There’s an obelisk in the background and fallen leaves on the ground. Rows of headstones amongst silhouettes of trees, and the beginning of a sunset amongst many clouds.

The recent ICE raid which emptied an entire apartment building was apparently at the request of Wells Fargo, which is trying to foreclose on the building.

I haven’t posted about my friend Hamsa, her husband Baraa, and their baby Osama in too long. They do not get many donations because they are so busy trying to keep their baby, who was born last summer during this genocide, alive. Please help secure them food and safety. 🍉

To get into the Holiday Spirit I’ve been watching old scary movies on Kanopy (which you can get access to for free with a library card. Their Fright Fest selection is very expansive!) #Horror

It'll never be lost on me that a particular subset of the liberal commentariat in both North America and Western Europe were deeply infatuated with this woman up until the very moment she decided to talk about that one issue you're still basically not allowed to talk about lol.
