BREAKING: Shabana Mahmood announces that immigrants will have to recite Beowulf in its entirety in Old English, without notes, before being allowed entry to the U.K.

Fair enough. I understand it was not a coalition of his choosing, but if he was unhappy with Green Ministers he could have changed things.
indyvoices.bsky.social
No. Humza did that all by himself. Badly advised and pandering to the gammonist wing.
indyvoices.bsky.social
Agreed. Qualifying when we’re this shite would just be embarrassing.

I don’t get it at all. A majority for the SNP is virtually impossible. Why not a pro-Indy majority? Why are we suddenly such enemies of the Greens, who have saved the SNP govt several times?
indyvoices.bsky.social
Well, they helped the Tories bring in austerity in exchange for…
…er
…something good
…er
…possibly magic beans?

At the next election, there is everything to play for in Edinburgh.

Council by-elections show that support for Labour, the SNP and the Conservatives is collapsing because they have all let you down.

Scotland deserves better - and with the Liberal Democrats, you can vote for it.
Edinburgh Evening News.

Lib Dems on track for one of 'best ever results' in Edinburgh at next year's Holyrood elections, says Ed Davey.

This poll seems like a stretch, but SNP/ Green/ Plaid on 82 versus Labour & Tories on 77 falls into the category of ‘interesting times’.

My God, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a political self-destruction as rapid as that of UK Labour.
Those still sipping the Koolaid need to reflect on how well playing to the far right’s agenda is working out.
UK Labour could be reduced to London and a few core seats in traditional strongholds.

Nice if anywhere near true. But since they’ve started asking ethically abhorrent and leading questions on behalf of actual fascists I’ve gone a little cool on their findings.

Nothing says "freedom-loving" like posting a picture of Hitler, you absolute bell-end.

Listen to this interview of Glasgow Friends of Israel spokesperson Sammy Stein by the BBC’s Hayley Miller (from around 15 to 17 mins in). Stein states that pro-Palestine students are celebrating the murder of children and rape of young women. Miller says nothing.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

It's pretty clear from the monthly Westminster polling subsamples that the rise of Reform is coming from other unionist parties. The SNP and Green vote has held firm since January; while the Tories (-5) and UK Labour (-4) have lost ground. This backs up the excellent analysis by Ballot Box Scotland.

I’ve made an official complaint, not that it will make a blind bit of difference!

If we're going with: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance being the 'British' values; I would have thought sending arms to a genocidal state that has broken almost every international law and is ethnically cleansing illegally occupied land is 'un-British'!

What should be ‘un-British’ is the heavy-handed policing and proscription of Palestine Action.

Sadly, however, if follows a longstanding British tradition, from the suppression of the Peasants’ Revolt via the Peterloo massacre to the Battle of Orgreave.

Starmer calling pro-Palestine protestors "un-British" barely counts as a dogwhistle tbh, it's straight up racism.

I don't remember him calling Just Stop Oil "un-British" no matter how annoyed he got

She’s actually back in Glasgow, saw her being interviewed last night.

Apparently the BBC’s favoured Zionist spokesman, Sammy Stein of Glasgow friends of Israel, attended the far-right gathering against asylum seekers at Buchanan steps a couple of weeks ago.

Absolutely disgraceful that BBC Scotland is giving airtime to an extremist Zionist commentator who is allowed to characterise anti-genocide protests as “celebrating the murder of Jews” without any pushback from the ‘interviewer’.
