Just saw news that ICE is rolling around my state in Ice Cream trucks to snatch up kids.

I now have to be terrified of the ice cream truck jingle & my kids running outside. Like kids.

I just lost my nephew & now I have to live in fear of a piece of shit using an ice cream truck to kidnap my sons.

- I get why some folks deeply distrust the educational system in general and teachers in particular. There are some horrendous people who happen to be teachers. They're awful bullies, because they teach & encourage the other kids how to target and weaponize differences in very specific ways.

- the idea of education as a "one size fits all" entity, separate from a public good, is bonkers to me.
- what did you like best (if anything) about your educational experiences? At any level? How would we create that for other people (at any age)?
- schooling should come with meals. Always.

- the education system is deeply, deeply fucked. This doesn't mean it's NOT a good idea to have a system of education for kids; rather, we get to ask "What do we want kids to learn, and how should that look?"
- not every teacher is a good teacher for everyone.

- I homeschool my kids because there are zero covid mitigations in school. Littl'un is also VERY AuDHD and has already experienced a tonne of peer and teach bullying.
- homeschooling isn't for everyone; it's a choice we had to make.

(1/2) October 15 is #NationalLatinXHIVAIDSAwarenessDay. I’ll repeat what I say for all HIV/AIDS awareness days (of which there are many): anti-HIV/AIDS stigma is intersectional. It connects to racism(s), sexism, ableism, ageism, colonialism, classism, and whorephobia.
