So, here's the deal: if you've got a mid to long-term J>E translation or editing gig for a ten-year vet with AAA, lead translator credits to his name (portfolio link in my bio), let's talk by email or DMs. If not, a share is appreciated. I don't wanna spin my wheels another year. Thanks, folks. 🙏

Yeah, I've seen it making the rounds on here! It's definitely on the wishlist for sure! Not every day you see a western dev riff on Mystery Dungeon, so I'm eager to dig into it and see how it fares. 😌

Genuinely one of my most cherished gaming memories ever is getting to the endgame content of EDF2 on the PS2 and having it drop to, at best, 1 FPS at times as it tried to process everything. I don't necessarily wish that on everybody else, but sometimes no frames per second is peak gaming, too. 😌

I fear for The Culture when I finally remember one of these years how to actually play another game that isn't Shiren the Wanderer, but that day isn't today, I'm afraid.

Them: Will FSR4 make [2025 AAA game] look decent and run at 30 FPS on the Deck? Let's find out in a video where the answer is "eh."

Me, the ascetic gamer: Such futility. If you wish to escape the samsara of Deck settings, you need only embrace Shiren the Wanderer as the one game a Deck needs. 🧘

I am covering EVERY First Person Shooter EVER made in Japan.

From 1985 to 2025, that's over 40 years and 70 games of gaming history.

Link: youtu.be/F80Cl6WzBNo?...

This was without a doubt the most ambitious video I've ever made.

i said this a few weeks ago, but a reminder that windows 10 being "end of life" does not mean your operating system will immediately stop working. even if the OS itself doesn't get updates, the apps you use most often (the browser.) still are. more important to have adblock + firewall these days

I don't make a point of speaking in public about UK politics, even if I do try to pay as much attention as I can, so I'm just relieved to hear I didn't crack an egg on my own face unwittingly, ahaha.

Hugs from Japan, friend. I'm so sorry your government is failing people, too, time and again. 🫂

Anyway, nice to see Downing Street is definitely giving the urgency of that perennial labor crunch exacerbated by a certain consequential vote the seriousness that it deserves. Yes, a language requirement on the people still willing to come and work there is clearly going to bring that relief. 😵‍💫

It's so fun seeing both US Democrats and Labour meeting such a precarious moment in history by catering to the people who will eat them alive in the polls anyway no matter how many concessions they're given. Such tremendous embarrassments who only have themselves to blame for their predicaments. 😮‍💨

Also, I get that the economy is super shitty out there, but, y'all younger translators I see replying to the thread, if J>E is your primary speciality, taking on a creative E>J assignment of that scope is probably not professionally responsible and could cause serious problems for OP. Just don't.

Still looking for someone, haven't found a single person so far (that I can contact). I have a 46-episode script that I need translated. This would be a paid job!

Completely unrelated to my 2am doomposting but does anyone know an English to Japanese translator, ideally with experience in screenplays?

Oh, perfect! I wasn't expecting it to still be readily available. Thanks a bunch! 🙏

Yeah, I was refreshing myself on their whole deal earlier and between that and their karaoke dealings before they got into games, it sure seems like they had a hell of a unique trajectory to say the least.

I'll have to see if I can track down that doujin, though, that sounds super interesting. 👀

While I'm normally not one to go out of my way to buy sealed games for obvious reasons, I'd also be lying if I said I don't have an alert out for this game on the off-chance someone does sell a copy with the sticker because it's just the kind of chutzpah I wanna own for myself if given the chance. 😎

Admirably big Satomi no Nazo energy, which is an infamous early PS1 kusoge RPG whose developer had the idea to put similar stickers saying "recommended RPG" on the cases by hand after manufacturing, tricking players into thinking the stores had placed them, a stunt Sony was none too pleased with.

The PlayStation-version of Konami's Tokimeki Memorial was released 30 years ago today - and one can certainly argue that it was this version, that made the game a real phenomenon. It's a shame Konami still hasn't offered a localized Version of this highly influential classic.

I went like three straight years here without ever seeing a single one (although I did have a gecko sneak into my bedroom, which I'm still trying to figure out to this day...), but this is the second I've had in two months. Fact of life here, but I liked that illusion this area was roach-free. 😩
iiotenki.bsky.social
Man, the dip back up in temperature during the day around here is definitely making the bugs go a little wacky with their behavior. Nothing like a surprise visit from a big ass flying Japanese cockroach in the middle of October to wake me up after feeling sleepy all day long. 😭😭😭

Really excited to monetize my reaction to someone else's reaction to someone else's video so that I can make tens of thousands of dollars plying my expertise by just saying "it do be like that" for every camera cut I talk over, yeah. 😌
iiotenki.bsky.social
pretty sure the reaction video economy is officially out of ideas because youtube just recommended a video to me that was titled, "[so and so number 1] reacts to [so and so number 2's] linux journey" and rarely have my eyes glazed over more at something google thought i would ever want to watch

vita means life, including and especially games that deserve it the least
iiotenki.bsky.social
you ever just remember when you're alone and lying down in bed that they followed up amagami with a pair of vita games that use air hockey as a metaphor for talking to girls

That Mamel type in question, the purple one in the video, is basically a glass cannon. It has low HP and you tend not to encounter it by organic means. But if you get unlucky and run into it, it can one shot you dead. Definitely wouldn't have done this without offensive rods to attack from afar.
