I know I have a few journalists following me...I hope some of you will stay on this. There are many organizations sitting on millions of dollars that people from around the world donated for the people of Gaza. This money needs to get to the people it was meant for so they don't have to beg anymore

“Peace be upon Gaza, on the day it fights, endures, and resists this colonialism,” said novelist Bassem Khandaqji yesterday, in his first public comments after being released...

In 2022, he penned a novel called, “A Mask Dyed the Color of the Sky” about Nur, a Palestinian archaeologist living in a refugee camp near Ramallah who discovers a blue Israeli identity card in the pocket of an old coat. Over time he assumes the identity of the card’s owner, “Ur,” in order to infiltrate Israeli-controlled spaces.

Friends in France translated and published his books including his 2022 novel while he was still imprisoned, and his family signed novels at launch events in Ramallah on his behalf. In 2024, Bassem Khandaqji was awarded the International Prize for Arabic Fiction—often called the “Arabic Booker.”
