I was super fortunate the past few semesters of my teaching to be teaching queer lit/book history/film/media courses to students who were really interested in the subject material and who understood the ethical issues around using AI to write about queer people, but I imagine English 101 is a mess.

I’m thankful now to have instructional opportunities that don’t involve grading/assessment because I’ve heard from my bf and others that AI slop is at an all-time high (though part of me does miss teaching actual courses this semester!)

Paper engineering in pop-up books is always so fun— today’s treat is Star Trek: Giant in the Universe (1977)

1)You may remember the articles criticizing liberal students for their hesitancy to make friends with conservative students—alleging that they were less open-minded than their conservative counterparts.

Your challenge for this weekend is to put in an abstract for Queer Bibliography 2026. It's what all the cool kids are doing.

The theme is Space, Place, Community (widely understood, certainly not limited to the South). CFP: shorturl.at/XAVJ0; Submit: forms.gle/XD7FgrrStp3j...

Athens GA and online

The planned electrical outage that lets me work from home tomorrow, the Monday after Atlanta Pride weekend, is an ally

ICE is doing a hell of a lot of harm in the Chicago area *right now.* I don’t mean to trivialize the national guard stuff, it absolutely is an irresponsible escalation, but the guard-centric convo around this really does understate what’s going on without any guardsmen.

I am teaching some of the reignited Mainz Catholicon printing debates to German print history students, and I realized others might also be interested in using these debates as a way to teach analytical bibliography, print hist, etc... so I made a teaching resource!

I just really hope we're all sitting with the fact that we're having a government shutdown in a year when ONE PARTY CONTROLS ALL THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT.
