YJA is peak for that age range though like. Hold on damn it's quite good! No flack too Kai Lys or Nubs. Bell is really well handled as well with one caveat that didn't make it into publishing. But (in my opinion) that's really it for good black representation in the adult+ ya novels...

In thr this is about a character named Ghirra. She has strong jezebel/seductress coding, strong tropey illogical mother doing illogical monstruous things for her children OR SOMETHING, extra bad that it's a black mom throwing in with "violent thugs" who do just awful things. "Terrorists"

I ironically explained it just a short period of time ago to a friend in a group chat haha. The context/explanation is framed slightly differently because I was explaining how awfully mother characters are written in God of War (2018, Freya), AC origins (the hyena), and thr (Ghirra, Chancey)

Star Wars the high republic does this as well with the black mothers specifically. exclusively.

NOOOO not the klc. It's screen is so dim!

I'd only recommend it if you absolutely need color. If you are fine with black and white I would recommend a BW reader of any non-kindle. The display contrast, how easy it is to see in weird lighting, is sooo much better. (I had a klc and sold it)

I switched to Linux this week and there is truly no reason to use Windows at this point. Installation was fast, I only had one hiccup with a very specific use case and I can play 99% of my games.

Also Mac Minis are like $500 now.
