The last green surge came at a time that the party had taken it's eye off the ball slightly on organising. Now it's quite the opposite. The vast majority of new members will be in places where there's stuff to do near them if somebody asks them to do it!

That looks amazing.

We can take on the billionaires, big polluters and tax avoiders who have rigged the system in their favour - and we can win.

It's time to bring hope back to our politics. Join our movement and help us win

When I joined in 2001, GPEW had just over 5000 members in total.
That party was big enough to get MEPs, Assembly members, save Westminster deposits and be involved in running a couple of councils.
It just added a whole new party to itself in 24 hours.
zackpolanski.bsky.social
This surge is now absolutely phenomenal.

110,000 members.

That's +5000 in the last 24 hours alone!

Between this and the mouse at old Trafford the other week- why are people so surprised that stadiums are full of rodents? They're a pretty obvious habitat, just as train stations etc are too. I just hope food and drink stalls have good health and safety precautions.

Only vaguely following the Scotland game ATM. Is there any football happening or is it just VAR-fest?
hikerhymes.bsky.social
This is only half the story though. A LOT of that support would disappear if you asked the question another way, eg "That hill up there is getting a big wind farm, is that good?". That's how Reform will get votes out of it. They're very good at making normal ideas sound stupid when it benefits them.

Once viewed an unoccupied house where somebody had left a few of the racist dolls commonly seen on jam jars in a corner of the bedroom. You'd think that the estate agent would have at least hidden them in the back of the wardrobe, but no....
hikerhymes.bsky.social
Ah yes, hadn't even thought of that angle.

Big scoop here is that Grimes has had a massive neon sign of his own name made.
And that he seems to think that Jewish people should hide their identity.

This is amazing! A colleague found it in her cavity wall whilst doing some DIY. A newspaper article from the 1960s bemoaning the introduction of some 50mph speed limits. "Poor British Motorists" - some things never change, do they?!
A crumpled old page from the Daily Sketch newspaper, dated 1963. The headline is "Have another think about it, Mr Marples!" And the story basically bleats on about how unfair it is that some experimental 50mph speed limits are being introduced. Apparently without consulting motorists. A logo saying Poor British Motorists is in the top right hand corner and implies that this sort of article is a regularly recurring theme.

Today I've joined parliamentarians from across the political spectrum in calling on Kemi Badenoch to rethink her dangerous position on the climate and net zero - a position which puts Britain's economic strength, national security, and environmental leadership at risk.

Not the most important thing here, but I see they took the brave step of putting Zack in front of a green screen. Looking forward to seeing footage of some fake funky alternative backgrounds coming out..... #gpconf

@zackpolanski.bsky.social : "The proscription of Palestine Action must be withdrawn & every parliamentarian who failed to vote against it needs to hang their heads in shame"

A reminder that 385 MPs voted to ban PA & every LibDem, Plaid & SNP MP abstained. Only 22 MPs voted against

Interesting he didn't mention Plaid.

Oh.

It’s Yom Kippur so why not have the official DHS account say “globalists,” a very common word to hear that almost never means Jews.

DHS appears to suggest that it will deny citizenship to "globalists"

And Goodwin's wrong that it "asks people if they're English". Versions I've seen ask if you're Black/White/Asian etc then require you to enter an "origin", of which English is an example.
It's open to click (say) Black and enter English as an origin, and nowhere does it suggest origin=ethnicity.

We're incredibly concerned about the welfare of two satellite-tagged golden eagles, Tarras and Wren, that have recently disappeared in Dumfries and Galloway.

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland.

For 20 years I've been telling people that opposing PR is something that's at the core of the Labour Party's existence.

Now I've changed my mind- if Farage talks more about PR, Labour will probably start to back it.

🇵🇸The Sumud Flotilla, which is delivering aid to Gaza, came under attack last night.

Governments around the world must condemn this attack on civilian volunteers and support them to deliver urgent aid to Palestinians.

Israel's blockade must end. Let the aid through.
