The Fetterman comparison doesn't make sense to me, there's no reason surface-level stuff like "this is a white manly man" would inevitably mean somebody's going to be a sellout. There's a chance he turns out to be a weirdo but it'd be a bespoke sui generis weirdo like how Fetterman isn't Ro Khanna
