Like does anyone ask if the trans person is comfortable in the locker room? Even in the one that aligns with their gender! No.
This is all to say bathrooms and locker rooms should have fucking actual doors and real privacy for everyone. And if you’re in a place where that’s already true, which many places are, - then what the heck are you even complaining about.
As always with these things the underlying issue is these spaces have never been comfortable or private for a lot of people - they have fundamentally flawed designs - masked because they cater to a hegemonic group’s preferences and ideas about normalcy.
Meanwhile people throw a fit because someone that looks different than them might be physically near them minding their own business.
As someone who grew up closeted and also fat - places like locker rooms certainly weren’t comfortable for people like me - far from comfortable or private they could be downright harassing, unsafe, and invasive.
But also I’m struck how the argument is always “Discomfort” and lack of privacy and I find it fascinating who in a society is allowed to feel comfortable and have privacy and outraged when those things are compromised
The thing about banning trans girls from locker rooms is that you can’t really make the discomfort argument without basically also arguing that lesbians shouldn’t be allowed in locker rooms - something I’m sure that will come.
You know the cliche about married couples having an argument about the dishes but it’s not actually about the dishes? Realized that trans people are the dishes.

CBS News would never put a thinly sourced 'story' by a rookie blogger like this on it's air. Until now. The Free Press isn't a journalism outlet, it's bloggers aren't reporters. This piece is more NYPost than Tiffany Network but I guess that's the goal.

Some NYPD officers worry about Mandani becoming the NYC mayor, The Free Press reports
The Free Press spoke to several New York City Police Department officers who are worried about Zohran Mamdani becoming mayor. Olivia Reingold joins CBS News with more.

The thing about Mamdani really is that like I don’t necessarily think all his ideas are brilliant or the right solution but they are A solution and he has new ideas AT ALL and actual energy
Oh shit I think I know where this is! Shot a tv show in there once, way off the beaten path if it’s what I’m thinking of.

A show to be missed and important background history to be read and share:
apparently the new Netflix show Monster: The Ed Gein Story invented an "autogynephilia" backstory for their serial killer (because of course they did!). so time to re-up my collection of writings on this pseudoscientific zombie theory...

It is forced detransition and inhumane. Imagine a teenage girl, then you start forcibly injecting her with large doses of testosterone halfway through puberty without her consent, trying to make her into a man, with no recourse It’s literally body horror. It’s fucking cruel.
In light of that story from the uk, reminder that the gay and trans panic defense (killing a trans person after discovering they’re trans) is still legal in most of the U.S.

It’s not a cute phrase, it’s literally a way people get away with murder.

People should not go to jail because of one guy’s skill issue
Ithe man said he felt robbed of his "manhood" after finding out that Watkin, who he connected with on Snapchat, was transgender with male genitalia. In a police interview played in court, the victim sard: "All the way throughout she made out she was fully a girl." He said the pair had been drinking and chatting, before deciding to go into the bedroom "which is when everything happened"
It’s so inspiring to see someone give a shit and have ideas.
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

This takes awhile to get going but it’s worth watching the whole thing
Idk literally everything has turned into a casino
Idk my hot take is the wisdom of how to run a business in a sane sustainable way or intentionally make a good product has been completely lost in favor of of the approach of chaotic strip mining, be the last sucker standing.
This is the thing that drives me nuts about most modern hot tech. It’s not that the things are completely useless, but the applications are so much more narrower than the bubble approach of shoving it into everything, massive growth with no plan, and damn the consequences.

1. In a devastating new Pew Research Survey, only 3 in 10 transgender adults report being accepted by their parents.

And only 1 in 10 say they are accepted by their extended family.

This is the lowest number ever found in surveys asking similar questions.

The survey comes as transgender people experience a legal assault from the far-right in the United States.

Affirming just means the therapist actually lets you explore your thoughts and doesn’t tell you immediately you’re wrong. They’re willing to actually consider the possibility you might be trans and walk with you and help you explore what that means and what YOUR thoughts actually are.
I feel like people really don’t understand what actual therapy looks like when you’re dealing with gender and that it’s probably a lot closer to what they think “gender exploratory therapy” is.
Look if even if it was possible to resolve trans identity with your gender assigned at birth (which it absolutely isn’t) it would only be doable with real therapy that was affirming of your own reality, not fucking conversion therapy nonsense
