When I'm very brave for taking my shot:
a court has officially ruled that transgender people can have warrior ethos
It is DEFINITELY a bet negative, i just *pray* it’s overhyped
interesting exercise, where do you land on this?

Me and the boys rolling up to vote for Crypto-Maoist Graham Platner over stalwart Dem Janet Mills, because he would abolish the filibuster, and she would not

Democrats manage to reinvent these meme proposals every single election cycle AND NEVER NOTICE THEY DON'T WORK. It's astounding. Biden really did invest hundreds of billions of dollars into Rust Belt economies... and for his efforts was rewarded with searing unpopularity
by my count there are four vague proposals offered: national service, investing in rural communities, reform the supreme court, repeal citizens' united via constitutional amendment

one of these is profoundly important. the other three are memes.
I would genuinely rather be in rural Indonesia
I’m a transwoman who lives in Florida and I would not go to the UK for a month if you paid me.

Solvable by getting a PhD. Having a wealthier wife while you make less: you aren’t even the one who has to make the kid, fucking pull it together dude. Having a wealthier wife with a PhD: you are a bohemian intellectual in a loving relationship with someone subsidizes your life of the mind.
It makes me so moved to see our foremothers get to grow old. It lets me picture myself as an old woman. for a long time I had trouble picturing myself living past my late 30s.

I hate how much that looks like somebody's transition before and after pics.
Was waiting to see how Olivia Reingold (who Oliver's piece destroyed almost as much as Bari Weiss) would respond, and you can see the tweet below which also shows she either did not watch his piece, or just didn't understand it, since he actually addresses this point directly.
Cartoon Twinks are losing their solar installation apprenticeships 😭
I still have friends who say things like “after we win the midterms”

people who think older women aren't showing up have clearly not been involved with a single local organization doing anything good that has survived more than like a year of existence.

our entire activism and charity ecosystem only survives because of older women and I'm not joking
My dad loves to do this. It has meant both in the past.
Dads love to text "Call me when you have a minute" with no way to tell if your family has suffered a terrible tragedy, or if he just needs help with the router.

“Don’t traumadump” sorry I can't have a human relationship with someone who i Just play mariokart with
my hot take is this includes the growing taboo of seriously describing your troubles and negative feelings to your friends, therapy is fine, sure, but insufficient
I feel lots of things that felt like, were billed as, self-actualization read in retrospect as canaries in the coal mine for the fraying commitments we owe to each other as members of a society.
Relatedly, I recall a lot of "the joy of canceling plans" jokes and memes from the 2010s and now folks are talking about a loneliness epidemic, and, well...
Yeah I’m looking to get out, presently
AND YET they have the same or slightly better approvals as the last term
“We refuse to pay the troops and also we’re doing indiscriminate firings of people for no reason”

I’ve never seen an administration so faithfully committed to self-immolation in my entire life
It’s genuinely so galling that they can immiserate millions of Americans and functionally end democracy and one the reason’s everyone - rich and poor - will let them is because they scream “tranny!!!!” Every five seconds
We anticipate at this rate of growth 170% of things republicans talk about will be my meds by 2027

corn is not an efficient energy transformation vector, turns out
Over 40% of corn grown in Indiana is used to make ethanol that cars burn. One acre of corn yields about 16,500 vehicle-miles per year of ethanol, which sounds high until you realize that one acre of solar yields about 2,700,000 vehicle-miles per year: 16,000% more driving for a given plot of land.
