The Port of Seattle, which runs Sea-Tac International Airport, is governed by a five-member commission elected by and representing the citizens of King County, WA. This is what democracy looks like.
Sea-Tac won’t air Noem video blaming shutdown on Democrats
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport won’t broadcast a video of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem saying Democrats caused the federal government shutdown.

Turns out protest alone was never what changed things, it was protest *plus media coverage of protests*, which prompted officials to respond to protests, which increased public awareness of protests, etc.

If the protest happens & corporate media simply ignores it ... it's inert.

Six out of eight of the largest mass-movement protests in US history have happened since 2017. You wouldn't know this from most media reporting, and you sure af wouldn't know this from the way either major party has reacted.

Today in Portland, a fed shooting pepper balls from the roof of the ICE facility was so eager to aim for people’s heads, that after shooting one photographer in the head and another in the upper arm, they accidentally shot a DHS agent in the head. This photo shows the moment of impact;
Riot cops standing a street with less-lethal weapons, and one in a gas mask has a cloud of pepper dust around his helmet.

Trump would never have the balls to do an Emergency Naked Bike Ride because then we'd all see how small they are.

Amazing Emergency Naked Ride. Here’s the moment thousands of riders rolled through the protests at the ICE facility and cheers erupted. 😮💯

The person who spent time in jail for smashing in the door of the OR State Capitol Building on 12/21/20 is currently a GOP precinct captain in Linn County. In terms of internal OR GOP politics, he's considered kind of a moderate. bsky.app/profile/seth...

As I often explain to overseas visitors, the U.S. has a two-party system consisting of the "democratic" party and the "anti-democratic" party. Those are the most revealing labels within the context of current politics.

The only way for the regime to effectively counter the Emergency Naked Bike Ride is to invoke the Emergency Naked Insurrection Act, but those zaftig slobs in ICE don't even have the courage to unmask let alone disrobe, so victory is assured!

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by ICE in Everett and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

The truth of what's happening in Portland doesn't matter to the Trump administration. But it should to all those who recognize the danger of the federal government's willingness to unleash "full force" on cities with different politics. Editorial: www.oregonlive.com/opinion/2025...

Despite President Donald Trump's grim characterizations, the protests outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building don't remotely match what's happening, the editorial board writes. While ...

If news & political journalists won't cover Portland honestly, maybe freedom loving patriotic travel reporters will. Speed yourselves to Portland! Review the food and arts and music scene for what it is! You don't even need to mention the ICE protests at all if you don't come upon them.

I was furious at the "both sides" headline the Times ran about how there's a debate over whether Portland is a burning hellscape. The Times has reporters there, they know full well that it isn't. The story is that Trump is lying to justify military occupation.

I was trying to put my finger on what bothered me about this portrayal and I think it’s that it just takes the guy’s words at face value, like he was a nice guy and reaction to Charlie Kirk’s death just pushed him over the edge www.nytimes.com/2025/10/12/u...

This feeling of impotence is devastating. How does it end? With the country emptied of brown people and dissidents in jail?

Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.

4/ I guess my point is, don't overthink this. Gestures of non-violent resistance work, whether grand or absurd, whether stuffed with symbolism or weirdly stochastic. The key is to display fearlessness in the face of threatened state violence, and to deny Trump the violence he so desperately craves.
goldy.horsesass.org
3/ Dressed for combat and armed to the teeth, back off from the air-humping inflatable frog and you look weak and ridiculous. But strike back at the frog and you look even worse. It makes it as impossible for authorities to win the visuals as Gandhi's Salt March did.
goldy.horsesass.org
2/ Yes, the frog is an absurdist non-sequitur, whereas the flowers were more overtly symbolic. But they both comfortably sit within the long tradition of non-violent resistance as advocated by Gandhi and MLK and others. They both create a no-win scenario for authorities trying to win public opinion.
