Reminds me of how Randall Monroe of xkcd says people are disappointed he's not a stick figure in real life

Apart from my mutuals, I really have no idea what most podcasters actually look like. Somebody I've listened to for years posted a selfie yesterday and I was like oh interesting, it's too bad I've already pictured you and your co-host as Space Ghost and Zorak and will not be updating my mental model

This was the last time Gary Owens voiced Space Ghost, and interestingly the idea Space Ghost is friends with Batman originates from Space Ghost Coast to Coast and it's comics and would be referenced again in a 2024 Scooby Doo crossover Little Golden Book

The Batman: The Brave and The Bold episode "Bold Beginnings!" debuted on this day (Oct. 14) in 2011. A really fantastic episode, Batman teams-up with Space Ghost, while Green Arrow, Aquaman, and Plastic Man recount their first team-ups with the Caped Crusader! #BatmanBraveBold #Batman

He feels like they are stepping on C2C and Cartoon Planet's toes far too much and personally I can't blame him for being bitter all things considered

The face both shows were made in Atlanta and the humor is really similar doesn't help the comparisons so it keeps coming up

Like "Ghost Planet" as a term is supposed to be synonymous with "Planet X" or "Planet Vulcan"

And Space Ghost's planet being called that is a pun from what I can figure
ghostplanet.bsky.social
I also just noticed that the Ghost Planet is referred to but not named, witch is interesting to me because "Ghost Planet" was an established scientific speculation term for a destroyed or undetected planet in Earth's Solar System for a few decades before Space Ghost

And this newspaper clipping that also mentions Dr. Soonev (although not by name) and that is the origin of Space Ghost's name being Dickson-Yates
The Space Ghost is Major Dickson-Yates, a futuristic human who lives with his two teen-age wards and a pet monkey and a doctor from Venus on a lost planet. They are constantly attacked by weird space monsters but the remarkable Space Ghost proves no easy victim

Because the only thing close to it is this article from Archie Space Ghost which is reprinted from original press release kit information.

Yes yes yes yes yes

As much as we know about the early production of Space Ghost, there's a lot we don't know, and what we do know is that the original Space Ghost changed a lot during production

We still need to see what the whole original idea Alex Toth had for "The Space Ghosts" was

Someone needs to find the original series bible of Space Ghost.

I personally think the dead wife trope sucks and I perfer the Space Ghost cartoons where either it never comes up (original), Space Ghost is implied to be gay (Space Stars), or Space Ghost is very divorced (Coast to Coast)

Invincible Fight Girl left earlier than the other Adult Swim shows on Channel 4. Apparently HBO Max is coming to the UK early in 2026, and this is why. Unfortunately, they couldn't have left it on Channel 4 a little longer.

I bloody hope these ditched shows do pop up on HBO Max UK, then.

But I have a feeling in the future we'll either get a comic that breaks the streak and gives us a very post-Cartoon Network Space Ghost, or the reboot comics will continue to reflect eachother over the Space Ghost cartoons and we'll keep seeing Space Ghost as a cop and/or motivated by his dead wife

I personally don't think any of the post Coast to Coast Space Ghost reboot comics make Space Ghost "Cartoon Network" enough for my personal tastes, although I know people indifferent to that neiche factor still enjoy them greatly

Coast to Coast reframed Space Ghost as a Who Framed Rodger Rabbit style cartoon actor, and it handled it extremely well in a way that fits particularly well with Space Ghost's post original series presentation as a Hanna Barbera superstar and with Cartoon Network's blossoming multi series canon

As far as I'm aware only Moltar has bees in him in the cartoons and that was only the one time and I imagine they burned off pretty quickly after stinging him

It feels like a misunderstanding of who Space Ghost is as a core character. Dialogue in the original series seems to imply Space Ghost is primarily a scientist who studies rays and waves who took up vigilante actives because he has the power to protect others from evil

On the Space Ghost being a cop, original series Space Ghost is a guy who lives in the country with a very nice car with 4H kids he's teaching about light waves in the back seat, who keeps getting into fights with the local biker gang the cops won't do anything about the same way Batman is a noir PI

Moltar being a Lava man works because it's not clear what was under that suit in the original Space Ghost cartoon and it's an interesting answer to an old question

Metallus just being an android works, focus on his backstory would be best spent if you focus on who made him and why
