Thirty years of concentrated international effort and cooperation has now had this much effect on "the great moral, economic and social challenge of our time" (Rudd, 2007):

I suppose it suits Israeli PR that there are still occasional reports like this, below. One might even suspect that...

It surely also suits whatever is left of HAMAS, which is not reliably knowable, but is clearly not nothing.

Going underground: the Gaza insurgency two years on
Although Western media ignore it, other sources make clear that armed resistance in Gaza continues, and is exacting a toll on Israel, explains Robert Dale Have you ever wondered why the Israeli for...

The first thing that happens does not affect congestion much. Instead, it affects trip generation ('the traffic will be shit, do I really need to?') and trip timing, via so-called peak spreading. But in inner suburban Brisbane, the peak has already spread to most of the day; nowhere left to go.

Building new commuter rail is no bad thing, of course. Did occur to me this week looking at daytime ('off-peak', haha) Brisbane motor traffic that much of it is operating within maybe 10% of saturation flow. What happens when rampant (yes, rampant) east coast population growth takes that up?

That's the definition of (small-c) conservative. This is not a Labor party.

As of now there is nothing Albanese's govt has done that has changed the country in any structural way.

No change at all to how the fundamental debates of the nation are addressed.

From a 1967 documentary "Easy Come, Easy Go" filmed in Australia & the UK featuring The Easybeats. "Loch Lomond" was one of the first songs we learned on the recorder when I went to school in Cambridge, UK when I was 9. it's a traditional Highland folk ballad. 🙂 #MusicSky

Much duscussed I know, but 75,000 nearly-all-white Yanks packed into Mr Travis Kelce's 'Arrowhead' Stadium, busy chanting what they imagine is a Native American war cry, while pretending to hack the white invaders with their tomahawks, is seriously weird stuff.

Leo Puglisi from @6newsau.bsky.social gave evidence to the parliamentary inquiry on the social media age ban - I asked him about the real impacts on young people. This isn't about protection, it's about control. You can't lock kids out of news and social connection and call it safety.

this is a nice rendering by @nickevershed.bsky.social but, er, it definitely shows coal power output remaining persistently high even as renewable energy grows, which feels like a problem

(No it doesn't generate, but it might as well be a generating unit, when you're compiling the instantaneous stack of units needed to meet peak demand. They're all needed, and all do the same thing.)

At 850 MW, this is now the largest 'generating unit' connected to the Australian grid, of any type: reneweconomy.com.au/australias-m....

A reason why we got here is that the media stopped reporting facts and replaced reporting with making everything a reality tv show where contestants fight one another. It turned lying from a liability into an advantage since it would no longer be punished

World's media today will be full of emotive stories about the release of ~20 Israeli hostages held by HAMAS for 2 years. There will be no similar stories about the ~2000 Palestinian hostages to be released by Israel, many imprisoned for much longer.

Racist, much? That's x100 racist.
