Got an interview for a job that I’m basically a shoo in for, and I’m already getting anxious trying to figure out the schedule. Love being an anxious mess!
Just registered for my last semester of library school, which I feel totally normal about, given that I’ve been working towards this for a number of years, and will almost certainly have no issue getting a job with, right? 😀

And to be so very clear, JKR has openly stated that the money she makes from Harry Potter (in all its forms, right now) goes directly to conservative and specifically anti-trans causes.

Do not financially engage with Harry Potter. Don't even engage with it for free. It's a Faustian IP, do not.
I wish I knew how to get cis "allies" to actually care about trans lives more than just empty words and affirmations

Reposting an image about how you support trans kids means fuck all when you pay hundreds of dollars to go see a licensed Harry Potter concert the very next day

Chicago and New York should do a cultural exchange program where we get to beat up Andrew Cuomo and they get to beat up Rahm Emanuel

everyone: wow being a librarian is so cool you just get to read books all day

your local librarian: today I had to break up a knife fight in the encyclopedia section

Rahm Emanuel covered up the murder of a Black teen, and shuttered public clinics and schools. Cuomo covered up COVID nursing home deaths and harassed women. These men heard "now is the time of monsters" and decided to attempt a comeback. They both belong in hell.

it also has no verification on the email address so you can use anything as long as it has an @ and a dot-whatever. it does not have to be an existing TLD. [email protected] works [email protected] works [email protected] works. anything will work.

it's a well built form.

i mean this so seriously. if you are transgender. please be safe. do not get caught commiting crimes. do not get caught by the state. do not sacrifice yourself, we will survive

Something we all should remember, as we talk about worst case scenarios and ways to plan for and survive them:

It's very much worth remembering that we collectively can and will survive them.

And, we will build something beautiful on the ashes of their corrupt and childish violence.

drugs have taken too many beloved celebrities from us over the years but drugs also have a rare chance right now to radically rehabilitate their image

Why is this dimwitted drunk sex pest I hired for a key position making mistakes
Senate Armed Services Chair Roger Wicker tells Politico he was "puzzled and disturbed" by Pete Hegseth's comments on Ukraine.

"He made a rookie mistake in Brussels and he's walked back some of what he said, but not that line."

Here is the pre-RFK vaccination schedule for your kids. Please download it before he is confirmed and changes/deletes it.

Give it to your pediatrician and say this is the schedule you want your kids on.

Making this my pinned post.

National Parks Service Stonewall page on the Wayback machine vs right now. They wrote trans folks out of Stonewall.
A wayback machine screengrab of the National Parks Service website for Stonewall that reads "Before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ+) person was illegal." A screengrab of the current National Parks Service website for Stonewall that reads "Before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB) person was illegal."
Working on a school paper about accessibility in libraries, and love having to write sentences like, “At the time of writing, the Americans with Disabilities Act exists.”

Cataloging friends, consider cueing up a local authority record for "Gulf of Mexico" for when the #LCSH is changed. If you're in a consortium, start those discussions now. #critcat
Not so much a change in user habits, but we do passports at my library, and while this is usually a busy time for them (spring and summer break), lots of people getting them just to have them. We’re having to tell people to call back another day, or try somewhere else in town.

Ok here is the thing with action/praxis/protest/showing up:

Sometimes you contribute by being a megaphone. Sometimes by being a wallet. Sometimes by being a physical body. Sometimes by being fuel or being relief.

If you can’t be one thing at any given moment you can almost certainly be another.

Ah, the millennial experience of “every time you get some measure of financial and career stability, the world decides to do something extraordinarily stupid again”
