On Nov 1st, 40 million Americans will go hungry. “When you take SNAP away, the implications are cataclysmic,” Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot said. “I assume people are assuming that somebody’s going to stop it before it gets too bad. Well, it’s already too bad.”

What? UTIs from eating bad meat? A recent study has linked urinary tract infections to E. coli in contaminated meat. Chicken and turkey are the most common hosts; women, older men, and those in low-income areas the most vulnerable.

Stupid, cruel! SNAP federal food aid helps 1 out of every 8 US residents. In 1 more shutdown week, funding halts. Who will go hungry? Veterans, old folks, kids. Food retailers in poorer neighborhoods will lose customers. But there's billions in contingency reserves...
