They project this will cost $75M up front and $30M a year and I'm guessing if you just gave the majority of these folks $57,000 and then a $23,000 basic income and let them live a life, they'd do just fine. And that's assuming they stay in budget. But helping people ain't our thing, punishment is.

I generally think we should be much harder on ppl running for office who plead ignorance about their own dumb choices because we should not be giving incurious, uninformed, glib adult children power to govern.

Some “youthful follies” are signposts for a person’s lack of growth.

all of these people would do well to learn something about “cheap” and “costly” grace. no one is saying that platner is irredeemable, but that some things are a bridge too far for someone seeking a public trust. if he feels truly contrite, he can work on himself and his community and try again.
