We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

tesco changed their website and now it tries to autocomplete search results and thrice has searched for the top autocomplete from the first letter despite me typing out a whole word, and also has two massive rows of suggested products between the product listing and the nutritional information. WHY.

OpenAI’s strategy is very clear, it’s trying to get people - especially young people - so reliant on its products intellectually & emotionally (& now sexually!) that going without them becomes unthinkable. And they need signs of that strategy working to keep the funding flowing in

I saw something recently that said a strategy for adhd is you just need to commit to doing 30%. The full scope of 100% of a project is just too overwhelming. So just start with some thumbnails or sketches for now and then commit to another 30% another day or week. Any progress IS progress

i just tried to log into my microsoft account with the email i changed it to earlier in the year & instead of letting me use my password it wanted to send a a one time code to my old email. cool. great. love that. even ignoring that i changed my email bc it was my birth name that fucking sucks

the new youtube UI looks like it was made for mobile screens and it looks ridiculous on big desktop monitors lmao. the best of it is it doesn't even function better on an accessibility level here because the progress bar is still super skinny and difficult to focus on with your mouse. 10/10 🥴

When I think of A.I. I think of asbestos. To begin with everyone thought Asbestos was amazing, folk used it in everything. Then they started learning it was dangerous, research was done, they stopped using it, thou for some the damage was already done. Stop using A.I and limit the damage it's doing.

…that this isn’t what they do. Secondly, and more importantly, it portrays digital ID as something used for enforcement and control, not empowerment. It makes it look like a ‘papers please’ approach, a tool of Big Brother, when digital ID could and should be a positive tool in a modern society. 3/4

I’m seeing pieces and posts today about how useful digital ID could be in navigating bureaucracy etc. Yes. It would. That, however, is *not* how the government tried to sell it to us. Instead, they portrayed it as a tool to stop illegal working and curb illegal immigration. 1/4

Do NOT use vanilla in place of sherry! I just made this exactly as written and used vanilla since I didn't have sherry. It is now down the disposal. The smell alone was a huge indicator of what it would taste like. Whoever thought of vanilla with meat? Nasty.
