The benefit of sales tax:

- You don't pay it unless you buy things
- Essential items like groceries aren't taxed
- Tourists contribute

But yes, sales tax is only one potential mechanism. Property tax is another.

Absolutely, it should be both. Or actually, multiple.

Surrey LRT/skytrain, North Van to Metrotown & downtown via Hastings, and UBC extension. A direct link from Surrey to YVR is also needed, as is a link to YXX (Abbotsford).

The issue is funding. Voters rejecting that 0.5% sales tax was a mistake.

Yes, people in other countries do not respect Canadian football, and that includes the Canadian Premier League.

However, that will change over time as Canadian teams perform well and win matches.

The UBC skytrain extension is critical.

However, with 2/3 of the Lower Mainland's population living in the Fraser Valley, where transit is horribly underfunded, the UBC extension cannot be the top priority.

Also, I would add: Metro Van residents rejecting the 0.5% sales tax didn't help.
